He has to sit out the rest of the season correct? From what I've read, I think he'd be eligible 2nd semester next year.

So if he enrolls, he needs to sit out two semesters. Marc Egerson is a Hoya who left who did this. He left halfway through his sophomore year after a December 30th game and played in a December 16th game the next year -- presumably after Delaware ended their first semester. That said, Egerson only played two more years -- this is Josh Smith's junior year. Are we sure we get two years of him? I think we may only get one.

Welcome to Josh Smith. This is very good news for the Hoyas. This is a rare chance to get a top 10 type recruit as a transfer. Even his weaker sophomore stats and limited minutes would be a huge plus to this team, but I am expecting more out of him. I trust the staff will get him into good shape and that he'll have a big impact.

Sounds like a great player. Let's get Josh looking more like Mike Sweetney 2003 than Mike Sweetney 2013.

Glad we're giving him a chance. He's been frustrating for UCLA fans, and his airballed layup earlier this season vs. UC-Irvine was quite comical, but hopefully he can turn his career around here. Considering post play is probably the most glaring weakness of ours right now, this is a good thing. It's too soon to say where he would stand in the pecking order with Hopkins, Ayegba, Hayes, and Bolden, but I think it's safe to say he does have the potential to be better than all of them.
Bit of a gamble considering his weight and supposed lack of effort (particularly on D) at times, but if we can turn him around, it will help our reputation as Big Man U, and only make us look more enticing to big man recruits. Huge opportunity here.
Now, hop on that treadmill, big fella! Welcome, Josh!

Good pickup. Low risk. If he doesn't/can't get in shape, he's the first big off the bench behind Hopkins and Nate next year, plays ~15 minutes per game like he was at UCLA, and gives us a different look to throw out there. If he does get in shape, he has great potential and could be our starting center season after next and potentially even one of the best bigs in the country. Lot of upside, and not too much downside. He's already transferred once and won't again, and if he doesn't earn his way into a big role at Georgetown his professional aspirations are in pretty serious jeopardy. So really, the pressure is on him to get in shape--if he doesn't, it's a much bigger loss for him than us, as all we'll have really lost is one scholarship for 2 years.
He can provide something of a bridge for us next year as guys like Hayes (who I still have high hopes for) and Bolden continue to come along slowly. He also pretty perfectly fills the role (and the scholarship) that we once expected junior/senior Tyler Adams to fill.

It was a lock when both he and Harry went to the AU game. Father Steck walked me and Harry right past Josh and his folks. Little man's positive energy sealed the deal.

Welcome Josh. Dude knows what he has to do to get ready (or will be told by the staff) so he doesn't need to be told in every other post by us clowns that are probably in worse shape than he is!
