The only purpose for playing these tough early season games is to face the opponent at its best. I am glad he'll play. Hope we win but regardless playing them without star would be of much less benefit to the growth of our young kids.

Whats bothering me more is that now everyone is hyping IU-UCLA on tuesday like its sign sealed and delivered. I think that Hoyas have a pretty decent shot at taking down UCLA. Well yeahh. Their 3 best players are Shabazz, KA, and Jordan Adams....unfortunately for them our strength (by far) lies on the perimeter as well. On both sides of the ball. As long as Greg and Otto harass them all over the court and Markel comes ready to play were in good shape. Larry Drew isn't that good and their frontcourt is just big names.

I'm glad Shabazz is back for the game.
If he wasn't available then beating UCLA would just have a huge asterisk next to it and losing to a UCLA team minus Shabazz would just be painted as a really bad indication of the level of our team.

As much as one wants to crack on Dana O'Neil for her game prediction, don't let that take away from the very accurate point of her article: selective NCAA enforcement in cases like this just encourages those hanging around and influencing the top high school recruits to keep at it. They're a complete joke.

In instances where we play man...what are te match ups?
I'd like to see Whitt on Jordan Adams (who happens to be the D1 scoring leader at the moment). I think Whitt shuts him down.
I'd take my chances with brilly on KA and Otto on bazz.

I think they're all interchangeable but the one that makes the least amount of sense might be Jabril on KA. I just don't think it's necessary. Jabril and DSR would work fine on Adams because DSR knows his weaknesses.

Interesting about DSR on Adams.
Adams has shown that he is more than just a deep threat and he'd have a significant height advantage on DSR. If you are right however...that frees up Whitt to stop someone else....which I like. In the end, I do think we are going to see a fair share of man d.

I think Jabril should guard him for most of the day, but DSR's input could prove very valuable

I really think the NCAA thought they had no choice with this overheard plane conversation. Makes me sick. The NCAA has become a complete joke

re: Shabazz.
Good. This program needs the most available chances at positive exposure - even if due to opponent.

The NCAA is ridiculous and everyone knows it. That said, it's a good thing for us that Shabazz is back for the game. It gives us a much more definable assessment of where we're at. Go get em Hoyas!

"F" the NCAA. This game is all about a bunch of good kids, OUR HOYAS, who just happen to be a bunch of fine, super fine, ballplayers. I hope they take to UCLA.

Has anyone heard anything about Otto's status for tonight? I assume there is a strong chance he will be playing because his injury was listed as concussion-like and not an actual concussion.

They're a complete joke. It's a good article, but she could have easily mentioned the elephant in the room - There is no doubt the NCAA was influenced by the marquee Barclay's Center event which would have UCLA play on prime time on Monday and then a chance to play #1 Indiana on Tuesday. (That said, I will somewhat give her a pass since it may not be her call, understandably. )

Glad to hear Otto's expected to play. We're going to need him tonight.
The Bruins are currently 4 pt favorites over the Hoyas.
According to Bruinzone, G Larry Drew sprained his ankle Saturday in practice and may miss tonight's game (currently listed as GTD).

Whit needs to be on Shabazz...that's our best matchup for him...Bril on Adams, and Otto on Slo Mo...Otto will have signifcant advantage there...we have to rotate on Bazz as well...dude is relentless, so he could get us in foul trouble...last five minutes though, I want Whit

Good thing UCLA's frontcourt isnt particularly strong because if any of our bigs get in foul trouble we might get to see what the rest of the bench is made of.
