I am skeptical that its going to be as good as DK, mostly bc Joker>>>>>Bane. But I've heard around 50% of it was shot in IMAX, so I wouldn't see it any other way.

Is it IMAX 3D? I hate 3D. It doesn't really add anything. Plus, it's usually darker and doesn't look as good. Problem is that most IMAX releases are now in 3D.

It's not 3D; it was shot using the IMAX cameras (which isn't a prerequisite to being shown in an IMAX theater). Definitely worth seeing at an IMAX. BUT, check the specific theater ahead because an IMAX theater doesn't necessarily mean the oversize screen, it can just refer to the projection technology. Get to a big (big) screen! (I kind of feel like Sony should be paying me for this)

He thinks, correctly, that IMAX is the best experience. When I watched The Dark Night in IMAX, in the opening scene I had vertigo because the film was so sharp and well shot. There is no need for 3D, it nothing for Prometheus

I'm actually really optimistic about Bane. I like Tom Hardy a lot, and Nolan seems to do well at reimagining characters in interesting, compelling ways. If Bane were still a roided Mexican wrestler, I'd be wary, but this Bane looks to be quite different.

You mean you didn't like the Bane of the "Batman & Robin" movie???
What's wrong with you, man?? That film was perfect! God bless Joel Schumacher!

Well, as expected, that was awesome. Not a perfect movie, sure. But a lot packed into the time, and all of it really enjoyable.

I think he was referring to strummer's Homer Simpson avatar.
Honestly, I didn't notice it, but I can see 'vado's point.
Man, Colorado has had a tough time of it lately, with the fires and now this.
So sad to have something lots of people were looking forward to marred by such lunacy.
All I seem to be able to think about this morning is the infant who was shot. Two of my best friends recently had babies and -- while sympathetic to all the victims and their families, friends, etc. -- that one in particular is just like the worst kind of gut punch. But hopefully, he/she will survive (I don't think the sex of the baby was identified).

If there is anything that can even be seen as positive news in all this, reports have cleared up that the infant was not shot. The mother brought it in to the hospital due to everything that was going on, and it has since been released.

I actually had to stop reading about this for a while, because I kept getting drawn to reader comments on articles, most of which are utterly vile (on both sides of the aisle). As for the avatar, kc, it would make no difference whatsoever. Just saying I can see how it might be unsettling.

That had obviously been my avatar for some time, and it is a very funny, completely harmless Simpsons bit. But it was due for a change anyway.
Also, I hadn't heard about the shooting when I posted this morning. Obviously very sad and disturbing.

First and foremost, my heart goes out to the victims and their families. What a terrible tragedy. I know it is simplistic to say that stricter gun laws would have prevented this from happening, but I must say I do agree with a statement made by the governor of Massachusetts only 8 years ago:
"Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."
So who was the governor of Massachusetts in 2004? Mitt Romney.

Can we please not turn this into a discussion on gun laws? Make a new thread if you want to do that
