Lateral move, at best. I hope they're paying him more, at least. The move isnt lateral. Maybe you have never been to Baton Rouge. Facilities are A1, football revenue in abundance, Kirby's base is there and the BE is on a downslide. Lets call it what it is. And if Kirby can bring his contacts and get guys to LSU, its a no brainer. Recall, at one point, the Tigers were legitimate.

I wonder if this is the reason why DP needed more time..

I wonder if this is the reason why DP needed more time.. Doubt it. Kirby would not be recruiting Pollard knowing he was leaving for LSU. That would be very dirty pool and he seems like the type that wouldn't do it.

Big blow to recruiting, obviously. But I can't believe how some of you are buying right into the-Big-East-is-collapsing-so-what-do-you-expect line of reasoning. You really think Kirby is bailing because of the Big East? Keep letting ESPN spoon-feed you this stuff.

Tough one to take right now, but Kirby is better off in the SEC. He will likely make a little bit more money, but I think he has a much easier time winning these recruiting battles at a SEC school thereby raising his profile even more for a future HC job. Remember, we lured Kirby away from Miss State, so he is definitely opportunistic and likely frustrated his connections in the South were not really getting it done at Gtown. Good luck to him.
As for GU, time to take a look at some hot mid major assistants in the mid-atlantic. There is no question Georgetown must remain focused on the Mid Atlantic and Northeast, that will always be where our best players come from. In the meantime, Broadus needs to come through and keep 2013 a solid class.

That's two coaches we lost this month to SEC schools. They all have big football revenue to fund their other sports.

I haven't read this thread in its entirety, so I don't know all that's been said, but I do think Kirby really didn't have to get a pay raise to make the offer to coach at LSU attractive. Just think about the difference in the cost of living in the DC area compared to Baton Rouge....

Hearing that Rodney Hood is going to LSU with coach kirby Sec to sec won't happen. Stop making Edited up. exactly, you aren't "hearing" jack. You probably googled Kirby's name and read unsubstantiated blog posts that you now are pawning off as your own information gleaned from those in the "know." I swear, the brain drain that has occurred on this Board over the past year or so is frightening.

Well I hate this news as well but Broadus has connections that will lure kids here. Kirby got us 2 players in his time Porter, and Tyler Adams....that's a pretty good legacy for 2 years.
