He's picking all upsets. He is a jackass. It's just his MO. He loves it. Notice how Bilas, Vitale and Digger don't even acknowledge him. He has a job because he fits the role of instigator. So, in other words, yes, he is a jackass. Did you see when they went to him, he started rambling, and they cut him off because of a "mic" issue ahhaha

In 2007, our Final Four run began with....Belmont. Let's do it again Hoyas!!!! I was at that game. Weirdest highlight: Belmont chanting "where is Georgetown?" let's put these n'ville bitches down. again.

There are going to be a lot of upsets. There always are.
But I think our team is different this year. Whoever said we are the most determined #3 seed to beat a #14 they are right. There is no way ANYONE is looking past this game. JT3, Clark and Sims wont let them.
The problem is that the powers at ESPN pick a few cinderellas each year and really try to drive those games. I feel like we were on the raw end of some officiating with the Davidson and VCU games.

Well just looking at the facts, our game should be a trendy pick for upset. I mean, Belmont scores the 4th most points in the nation, is a great three point shooting team, and overall is great offensively efficient team. In addition, they pushed Duke as far as you can earlier in the year and is on a 14 game win streak. They are a picture perfect team to upset a a hide see. Then look at us, a team that has been extremely susceptible to major tournament upsets the last 3 tournaments we've played in. Lets be honest, every person on this board would be picking this upset if it were any program other than Georgetown. It's a pretty obvious pick. A team that is due for a surprising March run vs a team that has a history of being majorly upset.

If you really did your research though as a betting expert, you would have to discount the Ohio and VCU loses because of injuries to star players (Austin Freeman, and Chris Wright) on top of VCU making a run to the final four. At least injury wise there is no problem this year, so to base it on the last two years with injuries would be foolish. As far as the Davidson game that was a bad loss and 16 minutes to Jeremiah was a mistake in such a close game.

That's dumb rationale for ESPN analysts, thoug, sleepy. If people want to make that pick at the water cooler, so be it. Vanderbilt has lost 4 straight first round games to double digit seeds. Is that a reason to pick them to lose after they just won the SEC championship? Of course not. Has one analyst noted that Belmont lives by the three, and we are great at permiter defense? Of course not.
Agreed, professor.

And in a shocker, Gottlieb picks Belmont. However, he seems to be picking a lot of high seeds. He's got to troll somebody What's funny is that he went on and on just before that about some team that relies on the 3 ball but will face a team with the 20-something ranked 3-pt defense, so he picked the team defending the three well. Then he completely ignores that the same analysis should apply to our game.

Double digit win against Belmont. Hard fought but controlled win over SDSU. Coin toss against Kansas. Take it to the bank.

Hope our team is ignoring all these statistics, predictions, and analysis and instead locking themselves in the gym shooting thousands of free throws each until now and Friday.

Do you really think anyone(media or general fans)is going to research anything about our match-up to even discover the actual match-up isn't that bad for us, let alone reasons for our previous NCAA flame-outs? Nope. The only way to get respect is to earn it by beating teams we should beat. We can start regaining respect on Friday.

Everybody should be picking against us based on recent history. And of course, the fact that everyone is picking against us will in no way improve our chances of not being upset. Everyone on the planet picked Davidson to beat us in 2008--including Seth Davis, who like today did it immediately as the bracket was revealed.
The Ohio loss remains inexcusable, but to a certain extent the Hoyas have had no luck of any kind since 2007 when it comes to the draw and the matchups. Both Davidson and VCU were great teams--very hot at the right time--that beat plenty of other good teams. The Hoyas just caught them early on. This Belmont team, whether it beats us or not, is very clearly underseeded at 14, so again we're unlucky in how things have pulled together. Its now time to make our own luck, but make no mistake, we could play well and still lose this game.

The scouting report will be out on us, although non-BE refs should help the game stay less physical. Hope the team doesn't get into foul trouble.

LOVE this match-up. Anything is possible, but there is no way I will go into this game without supreme confidence that our guys will finally get that monkey off their NCAA backs. Belmont is exactly the type of team we wanted to face. They are not physical, do not rely on pentrating gaurds, are not a solid defensive team and their strength (3 point shooting) is our strength (3 pt defense). When it comes to a mid-major and a Big East teams matching strengths, I will take the BE team every time.
It is perfectly understandable why some people feel a little nervous about this game, but realize guys like Seth Davis have been talking up Belmont all season. He was picking them regardless of who they were playing. What he should have realized was this was the worst possible match-up for Belmont in the tournament. They want nothing to do with 1) the best 3pt defense in the country 2) a long athletic team with a frontcourt presence on defense but also on the glass 3) a team that likes to control tempo and keep things grinding.
Belmont has gotten a lot of attention this season and is a trendy pick, they may actually start feeling more distracted than us. We need to fully concentrate on getting this game, there is no excuse for anything but a win. Unless there is an injury, cazy ref-induced foul trouble or we get hit by a 3pt buzzsaw, JT3 must win this game or even I, one of the most ardent III supporters, will have to question his preparation in the NCAAs.
The 3 seed and this match-up is a gift and we need to take full advantage.

Senior G Jason Clark said the Hoyas want to prove they are a better team than the one that has lost in the Round of 64 the past two seasons. “We're very motivated,” he said. “That doesn't leave your mind at all. You can't wait get to get back to this point so you can prove yourself.” The Hoyas opened their 2007 Final Four run with an 80-55 victory over Belmont. The teams will play again Friday in Columbus, Ohio, in the Round of 64. The Bruins (27-7) are fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 81.5 ppg and fifth in the country in assists at 17.4 apg. During the Hoyas' Selection Sunday party, the assembled crowd began chanting and holding up signs for the nation's top prospect, Nerlens Noel, during breaks in the announcement of the bracket. Noel, a 6-10 C, is visiting Georgetown this weekend for his first official visit. www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/rapid-reports/team/GTOWN
