Got that nervous pregame feeling in the pit of my stomach already. Especially with the lack of upsets in today's games. Only VCU has beaten a hire seeded team. Don't want us to be the first major upset of the tournament. I'm confident in our guys to get it done. This is not the same team that lost early in the tournament the past couple years. Let's go out and take it to them from the tip and never look back. Got in to Columbus around 9 tonight very excited to see our guys in the tournament in person for the first time since 2008. Have fun HSB! I trust our guys to be fired up for this game. Freshman may have jitters but it is time for our upper class men to step it up and win a post season game. This is a new team and I am more excited for tomorrow then nervous. We need to communicate on defense and stay active off the ball on offense. GO HOYAS!! Go Hoyas!

Colorado with the second upset of the day. Pretty crazy that biggest surprise of the upsets today was the Pac-12 champion

We play our game, and this one won't be in question. Belmont is going to struggle with our length on D.

I am not going to lie, I am nervous as hell. This has been one of the crappiest days of the year two years running. The collective exhale of a Gtown win could cause another Virginia earthquake.

I'm on edge too, definitely made the work half day official. Just had a coworker say "I know your a big Hoyas fan, but I'm rooting for them to lose. I just don't like that JTIII". I almost punched him. And I've never heard anyone say that... pops, sure, i know that plenty of people don't like him. But JTIII? Ridiculous. hm

Things I hope to see today:
1) Play defense with your feet, not with your hands. NCAA refs are going to call the ticky tack stuff out on the perimeter. Need to make sure we don't get burned by this and lose key players to foul trouble while putting Belmont in the bonus early.
2) Don't foul jump shooters. Belmont is a small team. No reason we should be biting on pump fakes and igniting a parade to the line. Play solid positional defense on the perimeter and the rest should take care of itself.
3) Limit second chance points. It's how less talented teams like South Dakota St. and UNC-Asheville stayed in their games yesterday. If we clean up the boards like we should, it will really force Belmont to shoot lights out for the entire afternoon to have a shot.
4) Make your FTs. Forget all the talk about shooting mechanics for one day. Stuff eventually needs to be corrected, but it's too late into the season to fix now (save it for the offseason). Guys gotta step up to the line and act like they're going to hit them. Not looking for a 90% day, but 75% should be attainable. I expect us to shoot a lot of FTs today.
5) Transition defense. If it's our halfcourt game vs. their halfcourt game, I like our chances. If they get cheap baskets in transition due to our laziness, then we'll have issues. This part is all about hustle. We have to do this 40 minutes.
Note that none of these things have anything to do with how we run our offense. If we win today, it will be because of our defense.

Don't worry about Seth Davis, any other expert , assorted Hoya Haters, or anyone else. The Hoyas take care of their own business and they win. It's a simple game: make shots, rebound, play defense. The Hoyas control their own fate. GO HOYAS!!! Beat the BRUINS!!!

Can we assume that Belmont is going to bring full court pressure, and that our favored long-and-lean starting lineup will almost immediately have to be changed by subbing in Markel to help break the press? I love our coach, but I have to admit that it makes me uncomfortable that we basically always just plan to run our stuff without changing it, while other coaches are always adding wrinkles to try to throw us off balance.
These guys are going to make some 3s. It will be absolutely critical that we own a rebounding advantage that ensures on those they do miss, we collect to avoid second-chance points.

All these result from proper focus and concentration. Jason and Henry must set the tone.
