I know he isn't a true point guard, but with that starting line up in the game, he's playing the point is he not?? How was what I wrote false? To me it says JTIII has more confidence in Clark playing the point than Starks.

Not necessarily that he has more confidence in him at the point, but that he has more confidence in the team with those 5 guys on the floor and not Markel.

We do not need an elite PG, but one that dribbles, passes and shoots effectively. He does not need to be a top 40 player, just not get flustered under the lights. One with cojones!

And that's a huge issue, since Jason never has or never will be a point guard....If Markel is going to come in and throw the ball all over the place, then what value is he adding? He hasn't defended...He hasn't shot well, he hasn't created and to make things worse he's playing tentative/scared.
When he came in, Marquette jumped on him like Lions smelling blood. They knew he was shook, and they took advantage. Can't have a point guard scared of pressure. That was Chris Wright's greatest asset, his ability to handle pressure by himself. Teams couldn't press us when he was in the game

Count me as a person who definitely took Chris Wright's press-breaking ability for granted. That was a luxury that I wish I had appreciated more.

I'm usually the one supporting Jason but he was awful today, and I think he knows it. Terrible way to finish a season where he has played extremely well.

To me it says JTIII has more confidence in Clark playing the point than Starks. Not sure I agree. We are, in general, a better team with with Otto in the game. Otto used to come in for Lubick. An adjustmet had been to bring him in for Starks. After Starks' issue, III decided to start his best lineup. I think III knows Jason isn't a "point", but can handle the job.(Most games, anyway) Starting Otto over Starks is just our best team.

I'm not as in love with Jabril as everyone else. After watching this team get skewered by Cincinatti's guards in an eminently winnable game, and the exits the past two years because of the play of the opposing backcourt, I love Jabril. He really brings something that this team has not had for a few years - a shutdown defender in the backcourt. I think most people knew this wasn't going to happen today - maybe it was uglier that we expected, but the result shouldn't be entirely unexpected. With neutral court games from here on out, I like where this team is at.

I guess my argument is that there is enough blame to go around and its a bit short-sighted IMO to narrow in on one guy coming off the bench, because I don't think taking him out of the game alone would have made that much of a difference in the outcome.

I'm not sure how many people are in love with Trawick, it's simply that what he brings to the table versus what Starks brings to the table is totally out of line with the relative minutes that they get. Starks has a better handle, shot, and can penetrate, but he does all of those infrequently. On the defensive end, he grabs and gambles and gets blown by regularly. Trawick doesn't bring much on offense, but is a far better defender and is probably the best guy on the team at getting to the rack and drawing fouls. Furthermore, he never looks like he's going to his pants, which is more than we can say for Starks against pressure today.

Press the pressers, press the pressers, oh did I say press the pressers? Agree terribly one sided foul calls even more egregious than at Syracuse and that's saying alot. Looks like we probably get to have a second chance to play the teams we lost to again this year!

Agree with not taking advantage of foul shots, that has been problem all year. Also since getting called with ticky tack fouls, shouldn't we make sure after first five minutes of ticky tack fouls on our end and no fouls despite hacking on their end that we take a lesson from the untouchables and make sure every foul counts!
