OT a bit--but I'm sick and tired of hearing media say "It's a travesty that this rivalry will end....", Why? What makes it a travesty? If you want to call this out--then mention your part and by "your" I am referring to the greedy, ACC loving SOB's at ESPN who pushed for this move and got their wish. These people benefitted from Big East--it made their network's coverage of CBB and basically helped make them into what they grew into and Georgetown happened to be one of the programs who was on top at time. The reward to BE? We'll "F" them and help our "Darlings" at UNC/Duke have a better package to sell as a league since the ACC has been exposed as a 2 team league where anyone else is seen as fodder and nobody takes serious. ACC football doesn't matter to ESPN-because it's a laughable joke. Big East has actually done well in Bowl games and far better then ACC--of course I think Georgetown would win a BCS bowl more consistently then the crap ACC puts on field, but with addition of Tino Sunseri to ACC--crap is what they'll get plenty of from Big East. Watching Boeheim address the media after the game, my favorite answer he gave was to SU student reporter who asked him to "rank" the game last night--and from tone you could tell the kid thought he just witnessed a classic game. Boeheim basically laid it out to him--"About 28, 30.....there were 20-30 games better then this before you were even born". His tone was not as much condescending as it was a quit trying to make something special that wasn't--or in other words--dont' be like ESPN. I could care less about playing Syracuse in future--because Cuse as an ACC team isn't what they were/are as a BE team. They will NEVER be Duke/Carolina--their arrogant fanbase will think they can/will but soon learn what worked and was applauded overall in BE is frowned upon in ACC. So if that's what they wanted, goodbye. Condescending tone or not, that's a pretty Editedy answer to give to a student reporter. I thought Boeheim's act at the postgame press conference was a little ridiculous and, from the clips I've seen, ungracious. I hope we get to wipe the Garden floor with his chrome dome one last time on March 10.

I'll be very surprised if Cuse makes it to the final four. They are a good but not great team that has benefitted from an easy schedule. They have beaten nobody on the road this year - best road win is NC State. And now they get a break going to UConn, which is imploding. I predict that Louisville will have their way with them (as usual).

Agreed, guru. Magoo is a whiney dbag and it shows up almost every time he opens his mouth. He does that at every presser. And, you wonder why his players shoot rifles when the hit a 3 pointer to make the score 9-6 and we shoot clutch 3s and just turn around and run back on defense. Good riddance to him and his program. Enjoy the ACC when they call a foul for playing defense.

Syracuse is one of a dozen or so teams with a realistic chance to make a FF run. So are we; that is why they looked "average" last night. They have been destroying BE teams night in and night our - the same ones we have struggled to get past at times.
SU is very good, and may be great if they get the right matchups in the tourney liek they did in 2003.
Also very good? Kansas. Remember them? They crushed the #6 team on the road last night. They looked pretty "average" against us too. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Easy for us to say, but ESPN takes a dim view of talent that stray off the party line (Keith Olbermann) or who bring the Worldwide Leader bad press (Ron Franklin, Harold Reynolds, many others). For a pair of 70+ announcers, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Mike Tirico's still employed and he is an embarrassment in his personal life. They have SEVERAL people at Worldwide Leader that embarrass them--Berman and Tom Jackson in Denver bar scene is about as poor of an example as you'd like representing your company but back to topic--it's not hard for Bob Knight give an opinion and it's certainly not hard for Dick Vitale--but let's face it--nobody really wants to admit the truth--even though they say they want to hear it--whether it's this topic, or any other.

I would be really surprised if Louisville beat Cuse this year.

I would not be surprised at all Louisville is playing much better at this point in the year than they were earlier(Just like most years).
Louisville will beat cuse at least once if not a sweep.

I thought Tirico was pretty well regarded for his talent, hadn't heard about his personal life (maybe that was pushed to the background by the Steve Phillips disaster). Berman trolling the bars in Denver must be something, I wouldn't drink with him without wearing a poncho. Agree re: too much whining about conference re-alignment. Frankly, I'm not sure that the current generation of college hoops fans cares that much about rivalries that are 30 years old.

Also in Luke Winn's power ratings: "Georgetown's efficiency margin is tied for second-best in the league with Marquette (a tourney sleeper), and it doesn't look like anyone will catch Syracuse. It didn't seem right to dock the Hoyas in the rankings after their overtime loss to the Orange on Wednesday; I actually moved them up four spots instead, because playing that well in the Carrier Dome this season isn't easy."

Luke Winn seems to always pump out good articles. Have a lot of respect for him as a writer.

I'm pleased to see that some fans here thought the Hoyas did well in the Dome, last night. #2 versus #12, and it was virtually even; pretty damn good for a team that was nowhere in the pre-season polls. True, the loss was tough to take for many fans, but I'll bet it was far tougher on the team, on the players temselves.
If you look at the box score, there were guys who had really good games on BOTH teams, and some who didn't - on BOTH teams. What it means is that the defensive effort for BOTH teams was top-notch. In the end, only one basket separated them.
I hope everyone encourages the guys to continue to watch each others' backs, play hard and play together. They need to focus on WIPING OUT St. Johns on Sunday; period.
In other words, I hope you'll take a tip from Patrick Swayze in "Roadhouse" - be nice.

I hope the team takes a tip from Roadhouse: Be nice until it's time to be not nice.
That time is Sunday.

Katz and McCallum are highest on us, both ranking the Hoyas 7. "That guy" is a tie between Schlabach and Dukie V at 14.

Please fellas don't get it twisted how poorly we made SU look with SU being an average team. It really affects your shot when you have a 6'5", a 6'7", and two 6'8" guys contesting. Your arc is increased and speed of shot are quickened. L'Ville may beat SU because they are playing well but it will be a close game that SU will have a chance to win.
As for Markel, he hasn't played well since the "concussion". I don't think that is an coincidence. Markel has moments of playing well but he can't sustain it for an entire game. I'm not expecting to see the L'Ville Markel again until next season. Basketball is a game of skill and confidence. Markel's J didn't look bad last night. A few rimmed out or were just a little long. Maybe he will have a game that will restore his confidence but don't count on it...........

We lack a dynamic point guard and a dominate center. Its aweful that coach had to bench our starting point guard because he was a liability on the floor.
Also if Henry just converted a few of those bunnies the game would have been ours.. Its as easy as that..
