I think Henry is rebounding fine: 8.5% Offensive, 16.5% defensive.
Just for a bench mark Roy Senior year 11.5% Offensive, 17.0% defensive. Greg Sophomore year 8.7% Offensive, 25.2% defensive.

If the young Hoyas thought they were getting felt up every offensive set against Rutgers, they will feel like filing aggravated assault charges against the Pitt defensive players after Saturdays game. Clark, Sims and Thompson who have been through these hand-to-hand combat battles, will have to show by example what is needed to win. They will have to show toughness by driving and cutting all the way to the basket, despite being bumped and held without a foul being called. Do not expect a call from the refs. Do not try to bump or hold by falling or stumbling off stride. Take the hit or hold and continue to the basket with real intent to score then instead of from the free throw line, especially Henry. This unfortunately is what I expect as well. West Virginia set the blueprint for how to take us out of our rhythm. If you constantly grab, push, and hold cutters, you can take away the back door pass. You then play up close on our guys on the perimeter and be as physical as possible in keeping our guys from getting to their spots on the floor. The best way to counter this strategy is to be able to drive to the basket, force the D to collapse, and then kick out to open shooters. Chris Wright was phenomenal at this last year. This year, Clark, Sims, Hollis, and Markel have all shown flashes of being able to make plays 1 on 1. Can they continue to improve and find more consistency? I'm cautiously optimistic. Though our solid defense allows more margin for error, to reach our team's ceiling, we need guys to be more assertive and confident off the dribble.

The difference is Pitt plays no defense this year. Not sure this group has it in them to defend that way. I hope Hollis is good to go.
Luckily for us Pitt's has few strengths this year: 3pt shooting and Offensive rebounding. We already defend the 3 very well so we just have to take care of the boards and we'll win.

This is my first post in 4+years - formerly hoyadestroya02 - under a new moniker. Pitt always concerns me - we should win this game going away... but strange things happen when you play at Pitt - like Chevy Troutman going 10 for 10 from the stripe.

We have to focus and play smart, as always - but Pitt is a hot mess this year. If we can't get it done against them this year, we absolutely have no one to blame but ourselves.

We’re better than Pitt and we should not be afraid of them.. Respect your opponent always but we need to take it to them from tip to tip.. Hate those guys..

What games have we won easily or won going away? St Johns maybe after they got within 3 pts and their best player fouled out. Pitt will be a battle and will most likely go down to the last minute. We have had all week to practice free throws. Our margin of error is very thin. Must continue to play strong D and we should get a win.

We have had all week to practice free throws. Our margin of error is very thin. Must continue to play strong D and we should get a win. We won St. John's going away. Most big wins aren't blowouts from minute one or linear in terms of point differential. On the other hand, our number of close games and close wins does speak to us being a little overrated. Though we're 8-2, we're nowhere near as good a team like 2007 (13-3) where the team was in very few close games -- wining most by 8+. I don't think the team is as good as 2008, but the number of close games and wins in them is more similar -- the Roy 3 v UConn, Pat's block, the Nova foul, the Marquette foul, close games at the Dome and at the end of the season v Louisville. But even that season, we won -- even if we struggled at time -- versus the lesser teams in the BE by 10+. That's not true so far this year. We lost Kansas and Cincy, beat Memphis, Bama and Rutgers. Both the Ville and Marquette became close -- do they count? Ville does, not sure about Quette. That's 5-2 (or 4-2) against good comp and I'm not sure we can expect that winning percentage in close games to continue. I wouldn't be shocked to see 7 more close games and us go 3-4 or 2-5.

Defensive intensity is what keeps the guys energized and motivated on the offensive end. Gotta get this one.

I think i agree with you SF. we may be 6-2 but we are only a turnover or 2 away from being 2-6. Even the Providence game at home is a 1 pt game with four to play and we shut them to close We have almost given games away late but in the end we have been carried by the defense. thoe sole exception being the 12 mins of solid basketball against Marquette,
Really not that different than last year when we started 1-4 and then won 8 straight but 6 of those were 1 2 3 point games.
This team even if it finds a way to go 8-2 down the stretch is not comparable to 07 or 08 just not enough offensive consistency yet. The defense if it continues to improve may be right with those teams. I'd take 7-3 today and go to NY for the BET. 5-5 would not surprise. a very thin margin of error and recent history keeps telling me of a february swoon.

www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/teams/page/GTOWN/georgetown-hoyasRapid Reports: 3 things to watch vs. Pitt: No. 1 -- Thompson's play Pittsburgh has struggled against perimeter shooters, which means the Hoyas should look for inside-out opportunities for F Hollis Thompson, the conference’s third-ranked 3-point shooter. However, Thompson has been hampered by a groin injury, so it will be critical to see if the junior has his legs early on. 3 things to watch vs. Pitt: No. 2 -- Walk the FT line The Hoyas said they expect a close, hard-fought game against Pittsburgh. Free-throw shooting will be paramount. The Hoyas overcame some of their free-throw woes against Rutgers but will need to be consistent in order to avoid an upset. 3 things to watch vs. Pitt: No. 3 -- Key on Woodall G Tray Woodall’s return helps Pittsburgh run its transition game more effectively and gives the Panthers a needed scoring boost. The Hoyas must keep pressure on Woodall, negating his drives and ability to push the tempo. Forcing Woodall to give up the ball will put the onus on Pitt’s struggling shooters.

If Hollis had a groin injury, it is good that we had a week off between games. I hope the injury is completely healed and he will be hot from the field. We have to hit those FTs too.

Wow, we are 3 point underdogs. That shocks me. 1-7 is 1-7. I hope we throttle Pitt tomorrow. We owe them.

Historically, it seems we play better when we are an underdog. Whether the team knows it or not, who knows, but it sems to bring some focus. Let's hope it works. GO HOYAS!!! Beat the Panthers.

This team even if it finds a way to go 8-2 down the stretch is not comparable to 07 or 08 just not enough offensive consistency yet. The quibble I have with this is that we haven't yet played those games and gone 8-2. What if we do go 8-2, and in the course of doing so, blow people out in the wins?

Yeah, in college basketball, wins are wins. There is just too much parity to suggest that you might not be in good team even if you go 14-4 in your conference. I mean, look at Missouri, they beat Baylor on the road and then lose to Oklahoma St on the road. We blew out Saint Johns on the road, but then they crushed West Virginia, who I thought should have been just as capable of beating SJU. Its just the nature of the sport, which is why you can't help but be nervous when, after all is said and done, you wind up as a 3 seed and play a horrible first round tourney game. Is anyone not going to be nervous for that this year? The key, I think, is to have offensive balance and good defense. We have more of that this year. I see more players confident late in games and that is a good thing.

We are 1 point underdogs and in every simulation I have seen they all have us losing by 1-3 points. So look at it as a game we are supposed to lose so dont overreact if we do (I know good luck with that). Their is a reason Vegas and all the simulations have us losing. I am not exactly sure what it is but those guy tend to be pretty smary. That being said I hope we win by 10 and we dont have to sweat another close one. For as happy I am with this team they sure are nerve racking!
