We are 1 point underdogs and in every simulation I have seen they all have us losing by 1-3 points. So look at it as a game we are supposed to lose so dont overreact if we do (I know good luck with that). Their is a reason Vegas and all the simulations have us losing. I am not exactly sure what it is but those guy tend to be pretty smary. That being said I hope we win by 10 and we dont have to sweat another close one. For as happy I am with this team they sure are nerve racking! What simulations are you talking about? Pomeroy and Sagarin have us winning by 5 and 6 respectively.

perhaps the reason all the stats and vegas has us as three point underdogs is that we are playing AT PITT. and probably because they were preseason top ten team.. woodall was out alot and gibbs had to play point and wasnt hitting threes and NOW woodall back and gibbs on fire as he doesnt have to play point. sounds logical to me BUT dont forget our heart attack hoyas have surprised before bama memphis villle at ville so WE WILL SEE go hoyas beat pitt must game and its february too.

Maybe Vegas heard Jason has been sick most of the week and is still not feeling perfect. Hopefully plenty of liquids will help him get over the hump. But don't expect an 100% Jason.

Pitt is 1-7 in the BE. But they just got Travon Woodall back and now they are a very different team. Think last year's Hoyas with and without Chris Wright. So basing expectations for today's game on performance in the season to date would be a BIG mistake.
This game will be the typical GU @ Pitt war. Fortunately for our guys, we've just had a week off to rest and recover from nagging injuries, to take an emotional break from the toll of BE games, and to prepare for Pitt. We KNOW Coach is looking at this game as yet another in a long line of very tough BE games.
Of course, I am expecting the Hoyas to look much better this game -- especially on O -- than we have recently. And, I expect a Hoya win. I also would not be surprised to see Greg play a bigger role in that W.
Can't wait!

Could be a nice game for Jabril to see serious minutes defending and going to the hoop.
I hope the players are not as scared as some posters.

I think i agree with you SF. we may be 6-2 but we are only a turnover or 2 away from being 2-6. Even the Providence game at home is a 1 pt game with four to play and we shut them to close We have almost given games away late but in the end we have been carried by the defense. thoe sole exception being the 12 mins of solid basketball against Marquette, Really not that different than last year when we started 1-4 and then won 8 straight but 6 of those were 1 2 3 point games. This team even if it finds a way to go 8-2 down the stretch is not comparable to 07 or 08 just not enough offensive consistency yet. The defense if it continues to improve may be right with those teams. I'd take 7-3 today and go to NY for the BET. 5-5 would not surprise. a very thin margin of error and recent history keeps telling me of a february swoon. Certainly can't begrudge anyone for taking a cautious approach with this team. But as you state we are just a turnover or two away from 2-6, I can counter that we are just a turnover or two away (and a couple of merely medicore shooting performances as opposed to historically awful) from winning the close games we won convincingly. And to say our margin of error is thin given all the close games suggests we are playing well and near our max potential. Offensively, we aren't playing well - or at least consistently well. Whether that improves remains to be seen but I like that the freshman seem to be getting more confident. More importantly, I think the guys we will need to rely on offensively down the stretch - Jason/Hollis/Henry - aren't in danger of physical or mental fatigue given the deeper bench and the fact that they know the team can always win with defense. All this seems like a better recipe for a team peaking when it counts as opposed to fading at the end. And frankly, Otto Porter is a difference maker - kid just makes winning plays and will continue to do so. With that said, I think we would all take 7-3 to close out the regular season. Before conference play started, I predicted 12-6 and that is still my expectation. And of course closing out 5-5 is a real possibility, but wouldn't necessarily mean we suffered another February swoon (despite what Gottlieb wouldn't certainly argue). Hopefully we see the start of better and more consistent offensive play today.

I'd like to see Markel get going in this game. I feel like he's played a little too conservatively in recent games, and I think the Hoyas are a better team when he is a bit more aggressive. The Hoyas will need him to produce more down the stretch.
It will be a tough game...the Panthers looked good against Providence.

I think the key to this game is to make sure Woodall isn't a factor. I'd put our best defenders on him and make sure he can't score and distribute. They're not the same with out him so let's make him a non factor.

It will be a tough game...the Panthers looked good against Providence. Pittsburgh is definitely stronger and more dangerous than their 1-7 record now that Woodall is back, but I wouldn't read too much into the game against Providence. After all, Providence is 1-7 too and hasn't been very impressive this year (despite the Hoyas' weak performance against them earlier this year). This will be a tough game for us, but I think it's also a very winnable game if we execute. I don't think we need to execute perfectly, but I think we have to do better than we did against Rutgers.

The Hoyas get back to the season now after the week off. 3 games in 8 days. We will need focus and consistency to win all 3. This is the only road game and will be a tough physical contest, but I still feel UCONNvicts at home is a bigger challenge. Can not be looking past Pitt. Let's get them all! GO HOYAS!!!

From all the articles I read JTIII and the team are taking Pitt as a serious threat, which they should. Not happy to hear that Jason might be sick. Everybody has to play hard. GO HOYAS!!!

Just as heads up, the second half of kansas and iowa st just started and it's a close game, so there is a good chance the first several minutes could be missed on Espn. I think it's on espn3, too.

yeah was gonna say this. Kansas game almost guaranteed to run over at this point. So i'd find a computer to watch on ESPN3 to see the start of our game.

This is why I was not happy with the Pitt game being moved from MASN/Big East Network to ESPN. This @#$% happens all the time. You only want a Saturday ESPN game if it starts at 12 PM or is the game of the week that starts well into the primetime hours. Otherwise there is always a high chance that you will miss games you want to see because of other contests running over their "expected" time limit.
