This also maybe the last time we get to play them in BE play if they get their way. I would like to send them off with a firm kick in the a**. How did they end up with so many freshman?
I think Jones, Bryant, Kilicli & one other guy are their only upper classmen.

Somebody should bring some copies of this to pass out in the stands.

WVU is not good. Kevin Jones is a beast, but he is undersized and cant really score on perimeter. Truck Bryant is average. We should dismantle them if we come out intense and stay sharp. Trust in our stuff, play the D we played to close out Quette, and be aggressive ALL game long on O and we will run away with this and see ourselves probably at 6 or 7 next week.

Nate needs to step it up Saturday-this is type of game he should really flourish in and go into with mindset the team is going to need him to play a high level game. I don't know how many times this has been said - to generally no avail. I'll say it again - Nate needs to BRING IT tomorrow period!

Kevin Jones has punked us his whole career on the boards...I really want to win the rebounding margin in this game as well as the win. Keep him off the O boards. They are such a streak perimeter team don't know which WVU will show up. Correction: Kevin Jones has punked a series of 3's playing 4's on the boards. He's a great rebounder, especially on the oboards, but hopefully Nate can keep that down more so than we have in the past. Would be fine with Nate not scoring if Jones gets 8 boards or less. Also think Jabril is going to be key in this one because their small guards can put a lot of pressure on a defense. In the same vein, I expect a smaller role for Greg because they rely on bigs and small guards, not on wings.

I think if we allow less points to WVU than Clemson did in the Orange Bowl, I'd say we have a good chance of winning. ;D

From what I can see after watching a couple of their games, this will be a real test for our frontcourt. Like Kansas, these guys are strong and Henry, Nate and Otto will have to prove they can rebound against that type of size and strength. If we get our outside game going it will help. Also, an uptempo game will help offset some of their size.

One of the best things about this game, as others said, is that it is at noon, after the Orange Bowl game, and presumably before even classes have started. WVU has always been a very tough place for us to play.
Playing WV and Cincy back to back in 3 days is brutal. If we win both these games, I am not sure there is a ceiling for this team. That would be about as impressive a start as we've had in our team's history, honestly.

When it comes to rebounding that's a team thing not necessarily individual or the guy you are guarding. So I don't think its strictly cause we had a 3 playing a 4. A lot of the time over the past 4 years he has been playing the 5/post position at times for them. their Be championship year, they started Him, ebanks, butler, bryant and flowers. We started Vaughn and Monroe both taller than all of those guys and they still killed us often. He is a load down there and it takes everyone to keep him off the boards. Wva has gotten inconsistent scoring from their wings but Miles and Brown are do for a big game, plus Hinds has that herky jerky type of game driving where he can be a problem.

Games at wvu are always tough. they have a good atmosphere / a lot of energy from their fans. plus we're due for a "come down to earth" game. I hope not - but I think it'll happen this sat, maybe cincy? (though that is at home and I'm predicting a big turnout from the students ... or I'm hoping for a big turnout from the students)
My only question - will huggins be wearing that aweful yellow / mustard suit? or the ridiculous sweat suit? Follow up - how is he allowed to wear a warmup suit on the sideline, when every other coach in D1 wears at least business casual? even master splinter up at ND wears slacks and a blazer (though his mock turtleneck is still ridiculous)...
is there something wrong with a coat and tie or a suit?

agree Lic, they cause us problems cause of their strength. Hoyas will need to "get their weight up" on Saturday.

@gtowndynasty
I don't know how you can say WVU isn't good. They came into our homecourt last year and absolutely smacked us. Their physical play always gives us fits, and the bearded one is strong enough to push Henry around.
This is going to be a mans game. WVU is going to be pumped for a win over a legit top-10 team at home. I'm far from "expecting to run away" with this game. We will have to extremely hard and extremely well just to win this game.

Henry and Nate are going to have to man up b/c I am not sure Otto's preternatural basketball instincts will be enough to snag a lot of rebounds in this one. Strap in Hoyas!

This was always a much more likely loss than Marquette. One of our tougher games of the year, even before you figure in match-ups.

Perry McDonald was why we lost the championship in 85' when he replaced Reggie. Just saying...
