thats a shame. I thought there were reports that Sweets had lost a ton of wieght awhile back. Still one of my favorite Hoyas of all time and still in my mind one of the most skilled big men i've seen play in college.

Mike Sweetney on the floor at the Garden right now. Just scored on a layup. Nice ovation from the crowd.

OK you HOMERS how do propose we handle Vernon Mack in this thread, he was on the HOYA final four team, got little PT as a backup for Roy the next year and went to play for Billy D. Now he is on the Detroit roster.

Unless Vernon is claiming Gtown, I say no...the NBA thread in pro/college sports would be a good spot

The coincidence of him playing behind Greg is crazy. If only they work out well, then Macklin builds a time machine and goes back to his junior year and never transfers.

He is also 4 years older than Greg and makes a lot less money

Roy won the matchup of Hoya centers as he scored 16 pts with 14 rbs vs 8 points and 7 rbs for Greg. I assume Greg was in foul trouble for a good part of the game.

Yeah I saw where PE2 was cut and Dajaun was signed instead, G'town guys are eatin their own on rosters everywhere. Heard the Spurs were kicking the tires on PE2 to play the 3/4 and spell Timmy during back-to-back games. The thing that hurts is that the SA system is really complex and it hurts him that he was cut so late in the pre-season. I'll keep you posted if I hear anthing more.

He was actually cut early in the preseason. It's just that there was no preseason to speak of this year.

Greg Monroe dropped 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals on the Celtics tonight. O'Neal and Stiemsma seemed shocked that he used his left hand so much. As usual though, he had little to no help. espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=311230002

Great block by Hibbert at the 52 second mark. He's definitely playing well so far this year - fighting for position well, blocking, staying on the floor and scoring. Such improvement from Freshman year. In the clip he recovers, gets to the dunker and elevates (for him anyway!) for the rejection at the rim. www.nba.com/video/games/pacers/2011/12/30/0021100040_cle_ind_recap.nba

Greg won round two of Greg vs Roy, with 19-11-4 vs 9-5-0 with one block each.

Still think he ends up back with the Celtics next season. They're paying for the surgery, rehab, etc. This was a sign of goodwill, and I think Jeff really wants to be a part of this team, which explains why he'll be spending the spring around the Celtics post-surgery. As a Celtics fan, I certainly hope he comes back. He hasn't gotten a chance to show Boston what he's capable of, which in my opinion (and probably the opinion of many on this board) is a lot.
Good luck in surgery Jeff, and get well soon!
