Jeff was doing a great job defending Melo.. Once Doc took out Jeff; Melo started abusing Paul.

JG also hit a clutch jump shot that gave the Celts the lead during a monster run. NY had to call a timeout to try and kill the momentum.

The more things change--the more they remain the same--(kind of).
After Ewing spent his career guaranteeing wings for the Knicks (no big deal and what are athletes supposed to do--guarantee losing?) Roy Hibbert set his own guarantee--only as Roy could do---"We're going to shock the world--and I guarantee we win at LEAST 1 GAME in this series". Now maybe this shows the generational change in people--but we've gone from guaranteeing victory to guaranteeing NOT getting swept?
Roy needs to get his rear end on the glass if he plans on helping the Pacers win a game in this series--and guarantee of not getting swept is just not a good look. Hopefully it'll be ignored--but have a feeling he'll add to the "legacy" of former Hoya centers making guarantees against the Bulls that ends up as a joke around the league.

Shawn Kemp obviously is the gold standard in "off-season touchability."

Well, Alonzo did guarantee his Heat would not be swept by the Bulls sometime during the 90s. Of course he did this I believe after the Heat went down 0-3. Miami did squeak out a win before the Bulls elimated them. I recall Zo taking a lot of heat (no pun intended) from the media after making those comments. I agree with you about Roy, but if the Bulls weren't jacked up to play Indiana after Granger's commenting that 1)he wanted to play the Bulls rather than the Celtics and 2)that shutting down Rose is how to beat the Bulls, then I'm not even sure if Roy's almost comical remarks will make much of a difference.

I'm more disturbed by Roy's comments then it's effect on the Bulls. It's a helluva lot easier for your team to win a game when you get some boards. He was non existent on the defensive glass in the 4th quarter almost as non existent as Jeff Green was the entire game in his series.

Excuses for Zo but not #55? That's weird. Both were wrong to say what they did.. Then again, maybe both were asked if they felt like a sweep was possible.

Pacers get no calls in the 4Quarter, except a offensive foul against Hibbert as hes shooting in crunchtime to kill momentum. Still not sure what the call was...But he needs to box his guys out at some point. 4 rebounds isnt gonna cut it. Yeah some of these guys can outjump him, but creating space around you can do wonders...

He didn't have one of his better games...to be fair though refs made a couple tough calls which impacted his game. To his credit, he did have 4 blocks. No matter what, I am always amazed at far he's come since his first days at g'town. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of transformation.

Still not sure what the call was...But he needs to box his guys out at some point. 4 rebounds isnt gonna cut it. Yeah some of these guys can outjump him, but creating space around you can do wonders... He's not the type to get a lot of rebounds in 22 minutes of action. That's just being real. When it comes to his rebounding numbers there are two key factors to consider: 1) he is too often nowhere in the vicinity to rebound either because of switching or because he is floating out on the perimeter 2)he puts more emphasis on blocking his man out than actually going after the rebound; if you watch games closely you will see he actually does a good job of keeping a body on guys like Noah when he is matched up against them and keeps them away from the ball; this ain't so bad when Roy's teammates actually get the rebound as a result, but when the opposing team gets the board then Roy's blockout can hurt the team. He needs to do less blocking out and more going after the ball itself. As for his overall play he was once against a defensive presence. He is makingit hard for Boozer and Noah to get baskets inside. They don't get clear looks at the hoop when he is in the game. He is whiffing at a number of block attempts but he is nonetheless challenging shots and causing his share of misses. He is keeping an eye on Noah and not allowing him to sneak in for a half dozen garbage buckets. And he is keeping up with guys like Noah when they sprint down the floor. On these fronts he is doing a good job and is far from awful. Where he is failing (and probably frustrating his coach) is his timidity again on offense. The first quarter travel when he should have attacked the basket after a rare great feed, and two other times in the second half in which he didn't go strong to the basket and was either blocked or had to go to setltle for two free throw attempts rather than an and-one. Those are the areas of concern (along with rebounds). It seems clear he can get his shot off against any defender the Bulls throw at him. So he needs to be both aggressive and efficient (making shots instead of missing). If he had scored a few more hoops last night his team would have won.

APB out for Jeff Green--this is 2nd straight Playoffs where he's been a complete non factor. Good news is his team is winning--so there will be more games--bad news--unless he decides to do something--there will be more games. Come on Jeff--get it together and contribute!

At least he was being aggressive on offense. But it appears as if he has lost confidence

at least the few shots he has been making have been coming at some pretty opportune times.

I get the sense that Jeff is really struggling trying to figure out his role on the Celtics, trying not to tread on the stars' toes, etc. At times he shows good energy and involvement, at others he fades into the background. He may not be comfortable until next season when he has time to work into their system and rotation.

I imagine going from 36 minutes a night to 19 for teams of similar caliber would hurt a player's confidence.

Just like in that Ohio St game, he not be comfortable until next season when he has time to work into their system and rotation, and he doesnt want to tread on the stars' toes. I kid...Stay agressive Jeff!
