Pat's first game action could be against Lakers tomorrow night---nice stage to possibly make his debut! Staples Center in LA--hope he gets some minutes. A better story if he debuts tonight against the Knicks team that didn't want him. Wrong Hornets. Knicks square off against Charlotte Bobcats tonight. Would have been a great story, though.

The odds of Roy Hibbert not grabbing a rebound in the next 20 minutes of game action are slim, but if that were to be the case, would he be the first 7-footer to ever score 20 points without grabbing a rebound? scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310328011Edit: Roy grabs an o-board and converts the putback. He now has 24 and 1.

Too early to mention how awful this Celtics trade has been? Go from best record in East--in contention for top spot overall and now with a tough schedule down stretch--might be dropping closer to 4th in East with no homecourt over Chicago/Miami or more importantly for them---Lakers/Spurs. Can't state how important homecourt was in Game 7, hype it all year--and then pretend it doesn't matter when you fade and lose it.
Now counting on return of a washed up egomaniac (shaq) who states his job is to defend/rebound--good luck with that, and a corpse Jermaine O'Neal.
This team looks awful right now and Jeff Green is.......still standing in the corner! Meanwhile in OKC--they are making push to get 3rd spot in West and as long as they avoid Lakers in 2nd Round--will be a threat to make WCF's.

Hornets coach Monty Williams on PE Jr: neworleanshornetsblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/hornetscom-postgame-lakers-102-hornets.html“He played well in the D-League,” Monty Williams described of the 6-foot-8, 235-pounder. “He’s had some experience in the NBA. He’s been around it his whole life. I’ve known him since I was a rookie when he was in New York. So he’s been around this kind of atmosphere. He’s a tweener – he can play the 3 and the 4, and probably shoots it better than most people realize. He can defend a little bit, which may help us switch (on screens) when he gets an opportunity to play, if that happens.”

Well that success was without Kendrick Perkins, so can't blame the dropoff on solely not having him. Biggest issue is the big four have been playing like the big three a lot of nights lately - they are wearing down and one of them is having a bad game.
I still think OKC comes out better, but maybe Jeff learns something along the way, and is either a building block if re-signed or can apply what he learns to a new team. Did his market value take a hit with the trade? Let's see what happens in playoffs for that...it may be a wash, but with some consistent performances he will look more attractive and maybe he becomes that versatile sixth man on a contender (prob the role he shoud be in).

Boston will be ready for the playoffs. I still expect them to win the East even if they drop to the 3rd seed.
I don't believe in OKC. They will lose as soon as they are in a series where Durant and Westbrook don't get the star treatment on foul calls.

I don't know how you can rip the Celtics trade when the Celtics themselves at least publicly seem to say they are pleased by it. Kevin Garnett has praised Jeff quite a bit for what he can do and what he uniquely brings to the team. Rondo has stated how it's great to have Jeff be able to run with him and get easy opportunities.
The Celtics problem appears to me to be more about being an old team that might have pushed it too early in the season to try to lock in homecourt in the playoffs and are wearing down a bit -- though ironically the one seeming to wear down most is Rondo.
Perkins belongs in the Eddie House stratosphere for player with the most over-inflated sense of his own worth on the basketball court. You watched those two with the Celtics and you would think that they were the baddest men on the planet, rather than riding the coattails of 3 HoFers and contributing in one category (House in 3s and Perkins in defense). Perkins is not a star and not a rock to build your team around and can be replaced with any of a number of different NBA Centers that are 6'10" and wide-bodied. I'm not saying that Jeff is a unique player that will transform the Celtics either; I just don't understand the thought that Perkins made the difference on that team when you have two 7 footers that eat up space as well if not more than he did and got another 7 footer who is far more skilled offensively (Krstic) in return. They'll be fine in the playoffs and will make it to the Finals where they will lose to the Lakers -- the result will be the same after the trade as it would have been before the trade.

Celtics will go as far as Rondo takes them and that was going to be true whether they made the trade or not. Rondo has been awful for about 2 weeks - difficult to tell if it is fatigue or an injury.
All of that is to say it is way to early to judge the merits of that trade. You'll know when the Celtics season ends (at least as far as this season goes).

While I'm revelling in the Celtics nightly stinkbombs of late, if Rondo gets back to playing the way he can, they will be very hard to beat, home court edge or no home court edge. But I will be happy if they end up in the 3 hole.

Monroe NBA Most Improved Player (Rookies)... insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=thorpe_david&page=Rookies-110330"Greg Monroe, Pistons This time last year, scouts were mixed on Monroe. They liked his talent, skill and length but had questions surrounding his inconsistent motor. Would he engage as a rebounder? Would he be a paint presence? Would he find ways to be a significant producer consistently? As Pistons fans now know, the answers to those questions are yes, yes and yes. Monroe is entrenched in the starting lineup, one of just a handful of first-round picks who can say that. He's a double-double threat every night now after not getting his first until Jan. 4 -- a 14-and-11 game against the Lakers in L.A. Since then, he has recorded 17 more and missed a double-double by one rebound or point in four other games. Monroe has learned to compete harder and for longer stretches, and he's doing so while fouling less often. In fact, he rarely has had to worry about being in foul trouble, which is gold for a starting rookie center. He has gone from a big guy with questions about his future to the big guy his franchise will build around. That makes Monroe our 2011 MIP."

I honestly did not think Greg would be a good NBA player. He has proved me wrong. Since the Pistons moved him into the starting line up in January, he has been a double-double machine.
