Just in case anyone was starting to like Jim O'Brien: “I think that Roy would say – and I certainly share this belief – I don’t think he’s having a very good season,” O’Brien said. “I think that he can play at a much higher level right away than he’s doing right now.” Honestly, Roy has struggled the past couple weeks. His stats are still decent but he's demonstrated that he can be more than just a good center - he has the potential to be an all star caliber center. I'm not going to begrudge O'Brien for the tough love despite the fact that he promoted the Troy Murphy abomination for so long.

I can't think of too many similar examples of a coach continually throwing one of his players under the bus. And not some superstar player who is disappointing, but a young player who is putting in the effort and really trying to elevate his game. Power tool.

i haven't been able to see a lot of their games so i might be off the mark. but my experience with nba games (im not a coach or anything - i just enjoy watching them). is that players get numbers who have plays run for them. sure you have various ones here and there - but for the most part. players get numbers when plays are run for them.
so i'd submit to the coach "are you running your offense through him?" isn't that what you did against the lakers the first time? what was the result of that?
he is a tool bag.

Roy has had some great games, but he also has his off nights. I am sure Roy would agree that he needs to be more consistent. And we know that Roy will work his butt off until it happens.

No doubt Roy needs to have more consistency, but I am always flabbergasted when I see Roy playing less than 30 minutes and Jeff Foster and Solomon Jones or whoever the other guy is getting lots of minutes. Honestly, what the heck makes a coach think those 2 are a better option than Roy at any point? Let the guy work through it and gain consistency by playing consistently. I'd understand if the backups were worth a darn, but Roy standing under the basket on one side of the court the whole game is better than those 2 backups.

Consistency is the biggest issue for most up and coming players in the NBA. What O'Brien's probably trying to do there is to keep Roy from getting complacent and making sure he knows that he needs to keep working. Obviously Roy is one of the hardest working kids out there, but he's been getting a LOT of love in the press this year. I'm sure O'Brien's just trying to tamp down the hype and keep Roy from starting to read his press clippings.

What is with Monroe's Ft shooting. He has improved to 50%, but he should be at least 70%. Does he have the yips which Gotlieb mentioned regarding FT shooting during the Mizz game.

There was a D. Summers sighting for about 7 mins. 2 pts., but no rebounds...

Since it is from way back, from the summer league, I apologize if this has been posted already, but here you go: the Pistons' Georgetown connection. www.nba.com/video/teams/pistons/2010/07/14/JohnThompsonGeorgetownPistonsCon-1373309/index.htmlObviously an underwhelming start to the season for the entire team, but here's hoping Monroe puts it together. It's a process, it takes time, and I don't think it's surprising that Monroe needs to get a little tougher to finish in the NBA. I'll be keeping an eye on him. Summers, I fear, is doomed to be a career bench warmer. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

nice video. i had not seen that. I fear summers is going to bounch around to a few more teams and mostly see time from the bench. But i hold out hope. if he ever "gets it" and uses his skills i could see him becoming a lock down defender / 3pt specialists. but he would have to commit to the defensive end. i've given up on his handle improving - but the guy is still a great athlete.

I don't consider a pro player who shoots 38% from 3 a 3-point specialist. His numbers at GU were 33%, 34% and 38%.

im not saying he is now. all im saying is for him to get consistent time on a pro team he needs to find his niche. i am suggesting he could develop a more consistent 3 pter since he has shown some apptitude to that

Easier said than done, but still wish him the best... really. He needs to get involved in all facets of the game, not just 3-point shooting and hanging around the perimeter. HE plays like he's a career 50% FG shooter. Lock-down defender? Don't see it because he doesn't play tough. Better rebounder is more likely given his body, but he just does not like to get his hands dirty. I think DS will try to do as much as possible in his final year of his contract, but it might be too late.

DaJuan playing very well.
Came in late in 3rd quarter against Hornets and has 8 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal in 6 minutes, but missed two free throws.

Roy had 17 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks vs. Celtics, but was 8 for 23 from field.

Roy had 17 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks vs. Celtics, but was 8 for 23 from field. As they were saying on the Celts pregame radio show, that is the Jim O'Brien offense. When Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce were teammates they'd each score 20 but it would take them 45 shots to do it.
