Bull spit the Sportscenter highlights for the pacers game is that Duncan dominates and they didn't show Roy scoring at all nor did they mention him. and in another segment where they were talking about the highest scorers of the opening games they said and down at the bottom is a name you won't be seeing on this list very often: Roy Hibbert who scored 28 in a loss to SA. No respect what so ever. Clark Kellogg said he thinks Roy will be an All Star Player Star Tribune NBA Beat Guy named Roy as Most Improved Player in his NBA preview Several NBA people have noticed and come contract time--Roy will be rewarded. Maybe in ESPN-ese "Hibbert" translates to "Thabeet".

Detroit is a graveyard for Hoyas under Dumars regime----Iverson, Summers, and now Greg. Monroe wasn't ready for NBA basketball but he'll work hard and make himself a good player.

Keep it up Big Roy...give the Eastern conference hell! edit: oops i misheard the figure of matthews K, but nonetheless, the point remains valid -- Roy is going to get paid a LOT of scrilla if he keeps up his level of play.

If he could pass it on to Henry!
Did Roy work with Bill Walton at GU?

Green just Vanderbilt'd DET. Ok well not exactly but he hit a game winner off the glass with around 2 seconds left.
Summers checked in for about 5 seconds. No time for Greg.

The OKC-DET game made it to local TV tonight, not sure why.
OK-City shot just 6-21 in the fourth quarter and trailed 104-103 with :05 left, but while everyone expected Kevin Durant to get the ball, Jeff Green got the winning basket on a layup with :02 left, 105-104, finishing with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
For Detroit, Summers played all of 10 seconds late in the game. Monroe was a DNP.

Roy had a solid game based on the boxscore. 13points, 8rebounds, 6assists, 4blocks

For Detroit, Summers played all of 10 seconds late in the game. Monroe was a DNP. And I thought I was being generous with 5 seconds for Summers. The box score on Yahoo! has DaJuan with 1 second and 1 foul.

2 DNPs for Monroe?!?! I know he needed some work, but this is a bit surprising. Ouch.

Dell Curry - the color commentator for Bobcats broadcasts - was gushing about Roy's passing ability and how much he extends the defense with his ability to knock down long jumpers. Noted just how much he was improved from last year.
All in all, even though he didn't score a lot, Roy looked real good tonight. He is money from 19-feet, and seems very confident at both ends.

Visiting Detroit, I caught tonight's Pistons-Thunder game hoping for a good Hoya matchup. It never materialized. Green played a pretty solid game, making the last second, game-winning shot while playing great D the entire night. Monroe never stepped foot in the game. Another DNP - Coaches Decision.
This was pretty surprising given the limited abilities of those playing the 4 and 5 for Detroit: Wallace, Villanueva, Daye, Maxiell with Jerebko injured. Those four combined for only 22 points on 8-30 shooting. And it wasn't like they were in there for defense. Green, Krstic and Ibaka scored 21, 14, and 16 for the Thunder.
So, I asked the season ticket holder sitting next to me why Monroe hasn't gotten a whiff of playing time. He explained that he had gone to the "Chalk Talk" before the game hosted by Assistant Coach Brian Hill who volunteered that "Monroe doesn't possess the skill set of the other front court players." Consequently, he explained, they will be developing him slowly.
That's got to be a pretty narrow skill set.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I found it pretty shocking that a coach would publicly express such demeaning comments about one of his players. More surprising is that he could come to that conclusion in the first place. I mean, isn't the opposite obvious?
I find this assessment by the Pistons coaching staff troubling and wonder if this is the wrong situation for Greg. Given that the Pistons don't have any other frontcourt players with a post game, nor any who can defend a legit big, their decision to bench Greg suggests they have no confidence in his abilities.
In other news, Summers made it into the game with less than a minute to go. His role was to foul. Interestingly, Don Reid was at the "Chalk Talk" event as well, having earned an undefined spot on the coaching staff.

Its all up to Greg. As soon as he decides he really wants to be a very good player, he will get his time and his minutes. I have little doubt regarding his abilities, but his work ethic and his desire could use some improvement.
Btw any reason why this wasn't posted in the Hoya-NBA thread?

How could you possibly know what his work ethic or desire are? That's like saying I know you have no intelligence based on your stupid posts on this message board. I don't see how, in either example, one can make such an argument without even knowing the person being criticized.
