huh from his twitter he made it sound like he had a terrible game, but those stats are great. I guess he's a perfectionist. Good for him. Keep up the good work.

Friday's Pistons' game is one of those where the box score obviously does not tell everything.
Monroe scored only 5 points on 2-5 fg, 1-2 ft, with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 6 fouls in 26 minutes, but the Pistons were +7 with him in the game.
Summers scored 15 on 6-8 fg, 2-3 3fg, 1-1 ft, with 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 turnovers, 4 fouls in 22 minutes, but the Pistons were -7 with him on the floor.

I'm glad he made that comment because I feel its a legimate critique. Granted I only saw most of the first half on NBATV, but it was enough. He was overthinking things, he was way too hesitant and he missed a couple of easy shots (one because he allowed himself to get blocked by not going up strong enough). He took too many outside jumpers and missed to many of them. Now from all reports he is now money with his outside jumper and he has been dominant in pickup games and scrimmages. Teammates say he hasn't been missing at all and has been unstoppable. He played well reportedly against Memphis and Orlando too. But in this game he either fell back into some bad habits or simply had what will soon be considered as an "off" game.

Greg finally had a decent preseason game. 15 pts (5-9 fg) (5-6 ft), 7 reb, 4 ast, 5 to, 4 fouls, +8 Summers laid an egg in the same game vs the Hawks

Roy had 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists (pre-season) tonight... and Jeff Green has 29 (in the 4th). My Yankees are losing (but may come back yet) so I was looking for something to be happy about beyond Amare's 39 & 11 vs. Nets...

Roy has certainly improved this off-season and now is poised to have a break out season. Can't wait to see it.
According to that article, it seems like his teammates/coaches were surprised at all the work he put in to improve this off-season. I'm pretty impressed, but I can't say I'm surprised. This is Roy we are talking about. If anyone knows how to work hard, it is Roy.

Nice write up. Thanks for that find hoyainspirit. As much as Roy has changed, sounds like he's exactly the same guy. My favorite part:
"Roy Hibbert has had one of the best summers I've ever witnessed in my years of coaching," said O'Brien, who has been in the business 3 1/2 decades. "Here's a young guy that understands that certainly it's up to the coaching staff to develop players, but most importantly, it's up to the individual to develop."
Sounds like Roy to me. Great stuff!
