"[H]e has earned the right to be the type of player that you talked about." As expected, the work ethic is there, and it sounds like he'll get his shot to put up numbers this year. In the first link the first three minutes went unrecorded. O'Brien during that time talked about Roy's asthma. Was it ever known amongst Hoya fans that Roy had asthma? I don't recall it ever being mentioned.

ROY, ROY, ROY, ROY!!!! Indiana picks up Roy's option for next year: sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-pacers-hibbertAlso, check out this from O'Brien (maybe this means Roy will finally start every game? ok...I'm delusional, I know, but I can hope): "Coach Jim O’Brien said earlier in the week that Hibbert had the best offseason he’s ever seen." Good for Roy. With Stoudemire now a "Center" in the East (with Dwight Howard the obvious starter), I doubt Roy will make an All-Star team any time soon, but I hope he makes that jump to a 18 and 10 guy. Would love to see our NBA guys start putting their stamp on the league.

Pat picked up a DNP-Coaches Decision in the Knicks preseason debut in Milan against a pair of jeans that posted 113 on the Knicks. Hard to believe he can't contribute that squad.

Monroe had a tough time in his first preseason game. He came in, in the first half and picked up 4 fouls in 7 minutes and posted a -12 +/-

Monroe had a tough time in his first preseason game. He came in, in the first half and picked up 4 fouls in 7 minutes and posted a -12 +/- ESPN had it at -10 but that is neither here nor there. He had 10 pts and was 6-7 from the line. I didnt watch but it seems like, from the fouls they went at him pretty hard, but he was effective offensively- sort of like we saw the last couple years with him. He'll get there.

I watched parts of it. Pretty sure he picked the fouls up early when Bosh was going at him (although I did not see that part of the game).
He played late in the third and most of the 4th. His teammates did not look for him on offense at all. He scored most of his points torching Shavlik Randolph (who should be on his knees every day in prayers of thanks that he is still in the league).

only saw him in the second period. he played pretty terribly and picked up 4 fouls. he missed lots of chippy layups. he'll get better. glad to hear he did better in the second half cause he was real dissapointing in the first

Can you imagine in May you are a college soph and in October you are on the court playing ball against James, Wade, Bosh et al. What a thrill. Congrats to Greg but i wish he was still playing here at GU

Clutter...greg is now an NBA Hoya
Last night had to be quite an experience for him...good learning experience. that game probably had the most regular season energy (if not more) of any preseason game

And in their first preseason games, Jeff and Roy led their teams in scoring tonight

Roy led the team in minutes played (31), points (18), rebounds (10), and +/- (+9).
I saw a piece this summer on Hibbert's work-outs with Bill Walton this summer. Hibbert seemed to have gotten really lean and strong. He looked hot...er...I mean smoking hot...er, I mean strengthy.

Monroe's debut has its momentsExcerpt from an article on the Pistons. Quote:Greg Monroe received a rude welcome to preseason action. In his first minute on the court he was caught out of position on a screen that allowed LeBron James to drive to the basket for an easy layup despite a Monroe foul. Then on James' free throw attempt, Monroe failed to box out his assignment, allowing the Heat to snag an offensive rebound.
On the next Heat possession, Monroe picked up his second foul. Next thing you know, he has four fouls in seven minutes. That doesn't even the factor the one he should have committed when he allowed James to blow by him with a slick, 360-spin move just outside the lane that culminated with a thunderous jam as the clock was running out in the first quarter. Let's just defense isn't going to be Monroe's calling card any time soon.
Yet on the offensive end, Monroe showed flashes. On one play, he displayed excellent footwork in the post that resulted in a nice little hook shot. Later he demonstrated some range, knocking down an 18-foot jumper. And the passing! Monroe's court vision and passing skills are well deserving of their praise. It's by far the most polished aspect of his game.
