Well, since UConn is doing so well in the tourney this year, I guess they have a right to give him crap. Oh wait...

Jeff Green and the Thunder take down the Lakers: sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2010032625&prov=ap“No matter who it was, it’s a big victory for us,” Thunder forward Jeff Green(notes) said. “We’re playing for something and no matter who came in tonight, and we won, it’s a big victory for us. … We’re trying to make a push, trying to get a good seed in the playoffs knowing teams are going to come in here and play us hard.”

Just back from watching the Thunder beat the Celtics at the Garden. Durant was unconscious on offense as usual, but Jeff Green had a stellar game. He was forced to alternate guarding Garnett and Wallace and at least held his own. He won the game for the Thunder with two clutch 3s and a block of a Paul Pierce drive in the last 2 minutes. sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=300331002

At halftime of the Warriors/Jazz game, Tim Legler just called Jeff "the most underrated player in the NBA." Said that "While all you ever hear about are Durant and Westbrook, this guy [Jeff] is the rock for this team."

I should know this, but what Hoyas other than Zo have an NBA title?
I ask because Jeff Green has a real shot at it in the next three or so years if they keep their core together. They're a great team.
Westbrook - 21 Harden - 20 KD - 21 (amazing) Jeff - 23 (ancient) Ibaka - 20 (he's really good and will be a top shot blocker at the very least)
Throw in some other solid young dudes - Maynor, Thabo, Weaver.
I mean, just absurdly good talent evaluation by their front office. They're pitching a perfect game the last few years. They should be competing closely with whatever team happens to have Lebron very, very soon. I wouldn't want to play them this year either.
Finally, looking up all those birthdays has brought to my attention that I am very old. I'm going to bed.

Jaren Jackson is the only other Hoya with an NBA title. He got one with the Spurs, when they beat the Knicks IIRC.

at some pt OKC fans were pushing real hard for a prototypical PF (and yes, they still need one) but the glue that Uncle Jeff has provided along with his clutch shots has been making them believers.
The Celtics (champs two years ago) now have essentially the same record as the Thunder (who won 23 wins all last year and have now doubled that). Talk about two teams trending very different directions...in any event look forward to hopefully Jeff earning another hoya title.

Said that "While all you ever hear about are Durant and Westbrook, this guy [Jeff] is the rock for this team." Funny, he did a segment the night before on how the Thunder had done such a good job building the franchise, and I don't recall him mentioning Jeff once, even though he mentioned every other guy on the roster, or so it seemed.

Last night at the Garden was the most entertaining NBA regular season game I have attended since Bird and DJ were collaborating.
Jeff Green is a very intelligent player who takes what he is given. When matched against Finley, he made a graceful low post move. Against Garnett and Wallace, it was drives and jumpers. He plays every possession on both ends
Westbrook is special and Durant is pure. Maynor is developing.
Don't miss OKC when they come to your town.
C's played well too, but Jeff made them pay at money time. Hope he heard the Hoya Saxa chant.

Agree completely on last night's game as entertainment.
Loge 19 had 2 Hoyas cheering as well.
I like Westbrook too, but he and Rondo took turns playing turnstile to each other on defense.

That team is one legit center (possibly Ibaka?) from being scary good. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep everyone together. I hope they save room for Jeff when the contracts come back up. I'd much rather see him winning than putting up better numbers but languishing in, say, Toronto or Minnesota.

Roy has 20, 11, 7 but JOB took him out with 7 minutes left so he won't get the 3 more assists.

Jeff should have taken the last shot last night instead of Durant. He would have made it and he doesn't "get" all the calls so the refs may have called the foul they did not call on Durant. That was a makeup noncall after Garnett likened him getting all the calls to Michael Jordan last week.

Boy, Western Conference playoff picture very crowded.
You have the Lakers who have all but wrapped up the #1 seed, but then #2-#8 are separated by only 3.5 games with 4-5 games remaining for each team. Almost anything can happen.
Very tough loss by the Thunder last night, who now drop to the 7th spot (tied with the Spurs at 48-29, but I guess they lose the tiebreaker). If they had won, they could have been within a single game of Dallas-Phoenix-Denver for the #2 seed (can you believe that!?). They are now a game up on Portland to avoid an #8 seed.
Remaining Thunder (48-29) regular season schedule: 4/7 vs. Denver (50-27) 4/9 vs. Phoenix (50-27) 4/11 @ Golden State (23-54) 4/12 @ Portland (47-30) 4/14 vs. Memphis (39-38)
Can't wait to watch me some Jeff Green in the NBA playoffs, wherever they end up. The young Thunder have to be one of the feel good stories going into them (though I'm sure Durant will get most of the press, which he probably deserves). Jeff has raised his scoring average to 15.1 ppg, and has 6.1 rpg.
