Lot's of good things and lots of bad things about that game. Good learning experience going forward and hopefully we learn from the mistakes we made even though we won.
On a side note, I was always a Sims fan and thought he was capable of more than he had shown, but Jesus, where did this come from? This is how I expected Roy Hibbert to play his senior year against Alabama, not Henry Sims. Mind.Is. Blown.
Still a long way to go this season and he will have tougher tests as the season goes forward as will we. Need to tighten up defensive rotations, improve late game play with a small lead, and besides Hollis, Clark and Sims, our players need to adjust to this type of defensive pressure. As nice as this win feels, we have to keep improving and realize we really made a lot of dumb/silly mistakes that need to be eliminated by Big East season.

team d is so much better this year with all of our disruptive length....love having all the tayshawn prince clones out there on the floor clogging up lanes and getting hands in faces. if lubick can find some rhythm offensively we are going to be tough. love love love porter and whittington - whittington in particular has some swag to him which i like.

This year's group is leaner and more athletic - the overall speed and flow of the offense is better as a result. And they didn't commit an insane number of turnovers in a tough place to play -- encouraging.
Markel launched a few from the Yates Field House school of shot selection, but that will get better over time.

Who cares if Nate is starting? He played far fewer minutes than Otto did. Otto played 35 minutes. 35!!!! (So...I don't want to hear anyone saying Otto should be doing this or doing that or blaming JTIII....he can't play anymore than he did tonight.) To me, it's irrelvant. The two have very different skill sets, and I think there are going to be times when Nate's skills are much more important. He hit a nice 12 footer tonight; that was a good start. As bad as Nate played he was crucial in drawing two fouls against Green, which eventually put Green in foul trouble.

Man this feels like the Missouri win last season. The silence in that gym at the end was a beautiful thing. Except Hollis was the goat in that game ;D

Thing I didn't like: a 10-0 run at the end.
Thing I liked: the fact that our lead at the end was big enough to withstand the 10-0 run, with a clutch shot from Hollis.

With the NCAA, networks often have contractual rights to broadcast a game to its conclusion, unlike the NFL, which give the networks the right to cut between games that are deemed out of hand.

The SportsCenter Highlight package looked like ESPN was expecting a Bama victory. All Bama highlights, until Hollis with the HUGE three!

Zone was effective because Hoyas have length and UA can't shoot. Refs were terrible. They let Green and Mitchell bull their way to the hoop without recourse. I'd like to see Henry block a few more of those shots esp since he had at least two inches on Green.
As an aside, good to see Trevor make a few jumpers for them. Local kid and good kid. Levi too.

OK ON THAT ON DFW but hows about just talking about kentucky nc game mostly at half time and not a mention on either espn channel about upsetting them AND breaking their like 22 or 24 game win streak.. i think they dont like us or the big east just a hunch go hoyas win and they MUST follow ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I don't know about that. ESPN cut away from the Memphis game so us West Coasters could watch Stanford - OK State.

I don't know about that. ESPN cut away from the Memphis game so us West Coasters could watch Stanford - OK State. Someone from the TV side of things can speak to this, but I think there are different issues about cutaways if you are in the dominant market of a game (e.g., SF for Stanford) than the national feed. Then again, ESPN in Bristol could have simply determined that Vitale's promoting of UNC-Kentucky was more important than the tip-off in Tuscaloosa.

To be fair to ESPN, Bama did have most of the great athleticism highlight plays in the game. Hoyas just had "good at basketball" highlight plays, and who cares about those other than us fans?
Love the games tonight by our seniors. The freshmen were more parts than keys, but like everybody else I'm loving Jason and Henry's senior seasons. I thought this would be an interesting team, but I'm liking them a lot more than I thought I would at this point in the season.

I had set the over/under at #7 on tomorrow morning's top plays list.
