does anyone know how we actually played before this melee broke out? i mean there were 3 quarters of basketball played before this and i have scoured the boards for stats or summaries or anything. playing almost a full game against very biased refs is still pretty significant, and i was just wondering how our players managed to do that. anyone?

I'm wondering the same. During the first game, there were tweets with players' stats going on throughout. Nothing to that effect this time?

Hadn't seen these photos...good find! One think for sure is that Markel was in the thick of it the entire time. If he shows the same sort of fight on the court...it bodes well for the Hoyas. A final note....good to see steroid raged guy in khaki shorts get taken to the ground. How about the Big O ripping the Chinese Guy of Hank's back! These are some serious action shots! It also looks like O takes a swing at someone in the melee behind the baseline - though I can't say for sure. I'd usually say coaches should be peacemakers but I'd make an exception in this case.

Didn't say you had to agree with me, my man. It's just, like, my opinion. To compare him to Tim Duncan is beyond absurd, though. I mean, come on. If I was comparing his skill level as a basketball player it might be absurd, but I'm not doing that. The fact is, both Tim Duncan and Austin Freeman show very little emotion on the basketball court, but I don't think many people would doubt Duncan's competitive spirit. My only point is, it's nearly impossible to tell how much heart a player has based on their demeanor. Austin was a great player for us, period. I personally think it's unfair to blame him and question his heart. A true fan of the program should support former players rather than posting BS like this on a talkboard. You have the right to an opinion, and I also have the right to stick up for my fellow Hoyas. I just didn't see the same player. A very good scorer, yes. Far from a great player overall. IMO.

From the NY Times article: I still haven't seen the footage, so I'm speaking from hearsay to a degree. That being said, it seems pretty unanimous that the refs were to blame to begin with. But as for the security, the only thing that they really should have been involved in would be controlling the crowd. And from the feedback, it sounds as if the unruly crowd did go to far -- throwing stuff at the very least. But ... and again I'm saying this without having seen the actual footage ... but I'm not sure that swifter or more severe actions by the security officers would have directly impacted the players and their fisticuffs -- and I don't think they should. Emotions and the reactions that come from them are an unfortunate side effect of competition. Certainly these reactions are not acceptable, but do we really want local security jumping in when players get up in each others' faces? That sounds like a formula for disaster in and of itself. Do you all think that was what the writer was suggesting or do you think he was solely talking about crowd control? And again, if so, then I'm not sure it really would have "solved" the real problems. Really?? You have commented in this thread SEVEN TIMES in two days but can't find TWO MINUTES to watch the video on one of the hundreds of websites that have it embedded, or clicked through any one of the countless posts in this thread that link to them?? Do you simply prefer to be uninformed??

The video also clearly shows JT3 running into the melee to break it up. I didn't catch that as clearly from the video at first glance on the Internet. Mex Carey, Chris Golski and all the assistant coaches as well. Bahahahaha...Mex breaking up the fight. It would be like a Chinese version of the Jeff Van Gundy leg hug.

The game went like this: we'd score, they would get two foul shots, we'd score, they would get two foul shots, we'd score, they would get two foul shots,........

Who was the Gtown player who got pounded behind the rim.The chinese player hit him hard with four or five straight hard punchs in the face. How is he he had to get hurt?
Multiple statements from Georgetown indicated no players got hurt. You are probably talking about Aaron Bowen.

Looks like Jason wasn't taking any crap.... Every picture, interview, and story I have seen involving Jason leads me to believe he's just a nice, nice guy. The way he did the interview when they got to China where a little kid is asking questions? You can just tell Jason's a good dude. home. This. Just went back and started retracing the thread and strummer's post really resonated. We know Jason is a great kid... Editedes me off that he was thrown into the middle of this mess. if I had any reservations about Jason being our team leader ...they are long gone. The kid has won me over, i stand behind him 100% and he's already become the guy I am rooting for the most to have a breakout season. I can't think of any other player who is more important to this year's team than Jason and I can't believe some on this board suggest we'd be better off with him coming off the bench...that's just foolish.
