FWIW, a buddy who watched the Puke game said the announcers made it clear that III pulled the team because of the bottles and officiating.
I think Nike should make it up to us by building us a practice facility.

People who want to cast thinly veiled racial assertions about Georgetown being "thugs" have been doing it since the 1980s and they weren't going to stop whether or not this happened.
That video from the Brazil game is crazy. There must have been video cameras at this one too, right? At least some cell phone videos will probably pop up...

Yeah, those stupid newspapers are actually required to check their facts and get the reporting right. The reporters might even do an interview or two. Who needs that? Look, it's not meant as a shot at Gene Wang or even the WaPo, as much as I dislike them for their perennially underachieving Hoyas coverage. But the Gene Wang story added very little in terms of context from what we saw from posts on this board other than what happened during the exit to the buses and confirmations on the names of players involved. There weren't any quotes, except those lifted from the official release. Don't blame Gene Wang for that - I think in that situation it probably would be impossible for him to get a quote from anyone - but as a sports consumer, newspaper reporting is failing us. It's why you're here too. Okay, fine. But I'd be on these boards even if there was a 24/7 Georgetown cablel channel.

It's why you're here too. In Gene Wang's defense, he's trying to get an on-site story out there as fast as possible. Often these are updated later when the reporter is able to get quotes from the parties involved. In the scenario at the end of that game, my first concern as coach would be to get everyone the hell out of there safely as quickly as possible. Waiting around to do a Q&A with the press is about item number 185 on the list.

As was mentioned a few pages ago, racists aren't particularly fond of China or the Chinese either. Imagine if this was Duke getting into a fight, stormfront would probably open up a paypal account for the poor Dukie victims

They just talked about it briefly on sportscenter. Seemed to paint us as victims of a hostile environment. "All Georgetown players and coaches are safe."

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the first photos that came out were the ones the Chinese central media wanted us to see.

Oh. My. God. That image is scary. Good for us for standing up for ourselves. Good for Otto for getting right into the mix to protect Jason. We're gonna love this team.

Wow. You got a guy in street clothes (fan?) stomping on Jason Clark while he lies on the ground while the entire Chinese bench clears to join in.

Jason Clark being attacked with Otto Porter trying to protect him, for those scoring at home. The social networking site that the first pics came from is state-owned I believe, so any photo painting the Chinese in a bad light (ie showing stuff being thrown, or like this one showing several Chinese players rushing a downed Hoya) would not last long on there.

Suggested response for any Hoyas who are receiving flak from others in their office/neighborhood/etc. for what happened in China: "Damn right we did. Now you best step back before I show you who taught Jason Clark how to throw a punch." Or, if the heckler happens to be a SUcks weenie: "Well, at least we were fighting men." Just a couple of suggestions. I have already used the second one today.

The only times I've been thankful for the NYPost is when it decided to do coverage of Gtown. This photo wasn't exactly coverage but it did more for the Hoyas' point of view than almost anything written so far.

Unfortunate incident, but surely not the beginning of another "Cold War" with the Chinese. What would be more unfortunate would be for the team to come home and cancel the remainder of the tour. Everyone will calm down. Games like this happen-- visit your local AAU tournaments throughout the Spring and Summer. Neither the Chinese nor the Hoyas should want this exhibition tour to end on this note. This Hoya team will be fun to watch for many reasons, none of which involve this incident.

FWIW, saw this photo (via TNIAAM, of all places) that puts the start of the brawl in some context: Edited to add: Same photo as Dan's link, directly above
