How's your favorite non-Georgetown football team looking as the season approaches?
Texas looks like the third best team in the state. I'll be happy with a bowl game and the successful implementation of an offense that is not 85% bubble screens this season.
Preseason polls should be out within the week.

Looking like it will be needing a new head coach after the season.

It'll be interesting to see how the Huskers do in the Big 10/12.

no rich rod...addition by subtraction. an actual competant coaching staff...YAY!!! If Michigan can hold opposing offenses to under 450 yards a game, I'm going to call it victory and celebrate. That and just happy I get to enjoy the treat that is watching Denard Robinson play football for another season.

Good old Shoelace fan there Boz?
A whopping 8 SEC teams ranked in the top 23, with Florida being the lowest ranked of the 8. I honestly haven't studied the schedules of the different teams, but Florida's schedule is absolutely brutal. The October slate of games looks like this: Bama, at LSU, at Auburn and finishes with the annual cocktail party against Georgia in Jacksonville. The consensus down here in this rebuilding season, is that most Gator fans would take 2-2 in the month of October right now.
We'll have to see. I'm cautiously optimistic that the team will actualy be pretty good, but with that schedule, 8-4 is what most people are guessing. With games at South Carolina and against Tennesee and FSU as well, 5-7 and not bowling for the first time since the probation years of '84 and '85 is a real possibility.

Also, not that preseason polls mean a whole lot, but FSU only has 2 ranked opponents -- Oklahoma at home early in the season, and then at #23 Florida to end the season. Unfortunately, it looke like a cakewalk for the most part.

That's what happens when you play in the ACC.
I don't know how the other ACC teams are supposed to be this year, but I would guess that a few of Clemson, NC State, Maryland and Miami will be competitive. No idea what to expect from UNC amidst the current turmoil.

Yeah, I hear ya' rooter. Va Tech is always competitive. I think Miami might be a little better than people are expecting, but so many people are down on Jacory Harris, that I think most expectations won't be all that great until he leaves.
Also, one of my sales reps is a big Clemson fan and he said he's really not all that excited about the team. I think when they failed to take it to the next level the past 3 or 4 years with the likes of James Davis and CJ Spiller, he's sort of come to the realization that they will be a "middler" team forever -- not awful, but not elite, probably winning 8 games a year but losing 5. It sounds like a typical Ron Zook year. Speaking of, his seat managed to cool off a bit by going 6-7 last season. Wow!

Totally spaced out on Va Tech. It's hard to believe they aren't ranked, as they're always good. Also throw Ga. Tech in as another team that's usually competitive. Also forgot about Benedict Arnold College.

Unfortunately, it looke like a cakewalk for the most part. Oklahoma has a favorable schedule this season also. Assuming the Sooners can get by Florida State, OU won't play a tough game on the road until visiting Oklahoma State to end the season. rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/teams/ooc/scheduleSooner fans are barking that nobody can beat OU in Norman, that OU will go undefeated in the Big 12, and that their team will play for the national championship even if it loses in Tallahassee. Personally, I'm not buying any of that as long as Landry Jones is still the quarterback for Oklahoma. One 3 INT game against a worthy opponent and these preseason dreams of crystal footballs will vanish quickly.

One 3 INT game against a worthy opponent and these preseason dreams of crystal footballs will vanish quickly. That's an interesting thought on OU. But if that were to happen, then FSU would stand a decent shot at being undefeated. Obviously, a 1 loss OU team wouldn't be ahead of an undefeated FSU team that had already beaten OU. But would they be ahead of an undefeated Pac 10 team? Probably won't be one, but still. Obviously they wouldn't be above an udefeated SEC team, but what about a 1 loss SEC team? I would have to guess that a 1 loss SEC team would probably be ahead of a 1 loss OU team. But it's entirely possible that the SEC champ this year has 2 losses. Also, FSU does have a road game against Clemson the week after the showdown with the Sooners.

Anyone that believes in a Brent Venables defense on the road against a quality opponent, good luck to you and please don't bet anything substantial.

I'll be happy with a bowl game and the successful implementation of an offense that is not 85% bubble screens this season. Preseason polls should be out within the week. My favorite team is looking at the DEATH PENALTY for a minimum of 3-5 years and deservingly so. What a cluster .... this is and embarrassed/humilated to support such a goonish outfit. I don't want to excuse any behavior, actions, ignorance from any aspect either. I'll add to the misery in fact: 1. No doubt in my mind that it extends to prior then Clappy/Shannon Errors. Butch Davis has UNC in hot water and it's obvious how he recruits so well-with Pete Garcia too. I think I believed what I wanted to believe and have been proven not only wrong but humiliated in supporting such a pathetic program. 2. Full credit to Charles Robinson and Yahoo for putting together this piece to not just expose the clowns at Miami but also show how things happen when it comes to booster/player relations. (Some of this is exactly the same type of things Sam Gilbert was involved with when funding UCLA hoops/USC football back in day too, but unlike Sam---Miami didn't cover it's ass). 3. Fascinating to see the player pages---where it's documented what they did/got and how long with visual evidence as well. 4. That fat piece of dog crap Paul Dee who led the wrongful punishment of USC who had 1 player/agent related incident and mentioned to USC "You should've known" about a "high profile player" happens to be the AD for most of this "run of disgust". So what does this leader of men and honesty do tonight? Deny knowing anything happened. Paul--you fat piece of crap--YOU SHOULDVE KNOWN!!! Unlike USC, this guy was a friggin BOOSTER too--not a guy trying to get into agency and sign Reggie Bush, but a BOOSTER who contributed to school--you were honoring at halftime of games, let run onto the field with the team, and have his name on your campus for donating money. FAT BASTARD should've known. This man is a disgrace to life--let alone collegiate sports. 5. Think it's obvious why Kirby Hocutt left for Texas Tech AD spot now---what is tasteless is how Al Golden and Jim Larranga were hired under false pretense and didn't know of this or the extent of it. 6. Add a year of Death Penalty for each AWFUL player receiving benefits--Kyle Wright? Marcus Maxey? Charlie Jones? Tyrone Moss? JaPicky Harris? Good God--they don't even cheat properly. Deserves even more punishment. 7. Coaches involved in this should be BANNED from NCAA FB. Never allowed to work again-they were funneling guys to the booster and then going to strip clubs with them? Nice example for the young men. Way to help growth. 8. Bounties for injuring or attempting to injure other players? DISGUSTING. I'm all for knocking snot out of people with fair/clean play but the bounties are tasteless and disgusting. I'm ashamed to support any program or organization that would encourage the attempts to injure someone. SICK. So much more but this is my initial reaction and what I really would like to say isn't allowed to be shared on the boards. I really like Al Golden and hope he leaves when this program gets shutdown-that is only answer. They've violated rules repeatedly and flaunted it--not even an attempt to be deceitful. Pell Grant abuse, numerous illegal benefits/laws broken, illegal recruiting activities, etc.......which almost ALL fell under Paul Dee's watch and he's allowed to head up an investigation/dish out punishment to another school? AWFUL INJUSTICE. Last but not least, anyone who thinks the Death Penalty is too harsh--let me just say if USC is going to get what they did for one player/incident--then UNC needs more severe and Miami needs to be shutdown/start over. Golden needs to leave this mess and hope he goes where someone of his caliber/honesty is deserved. He's a good man and doesn't deserve this crap.

I have no idea if Al is a good man or not, but he damn sure seems like any other coach. It's funny how a lot he players he got rid of were players that did not play @ all; yet Storm was in trouble too but he stayed w/the team until he decided to leave. I do not have an issue w/coaches wanting their own guys, but damn, looking the other way because Storm would have been a player that shined for your team is wrong. Maybe, he would have been suspended/let go, but it did not happened right away like the other guys. Hell, Cookie Buchanan(sp) was suspended all of maybe 3 weeks...
