Chris has always reminded me of a bigger Travis Best (Georgia Tech, Indiana Pacers drafted 23 in the 1st round).
Best was only 5-9 (listed at 5-11) but was built like a running back. He could palm the ball during games, scored 100 points in a game in high school, could hit 3s, and was fearless driving to the basket and a great penetrator. He loved to score and would take the big shot in crunch time.
Best actually would play at the end of games for those Pacer ECF and Finals teams over the 6-3 Mark Jackson because he was a big game scorer and quicker on defense.
Overall, I think the NBA has gotten smaller at the PG position (especially first tier starters) right now (Chris Paul, Johnny Flynn, Brandon Jennings, Jameer Nelson), then when Best was playing, so that bodes well for Chris Wright.

There's really no point in piling on to the Cousy Award, but I noticed that they nominated both Norris Cole and Cole Norris, both of Cleveland State. Not surprisingly, they were unable to locate a photo of Cole Norris, probably because he's not a real person. Great job guys. If Georgetown had nominated Wright Chris, maybe he would have gotten the nod. www.cousyaward.com/nominees.php

How about Chris thanks the Cousy Award folks while hoisting the National Championship trophy?

Was he nominated last year? Don't recall. No. 2009 Release2010 ReleaseThe press release makes it rather clear to whom you should send your complaints: "Total of 66 players have been nominated for the 2011 award. Nominations were solicited from all schools across the country." Hopefully we can now move past this and continue discussing Carlos Arroyo.

Nice that it's been rectified. Kudos to the Cousy Award crew for correcting a mistake.

Check the link again and look at the bottom row on the left. Not sure why the need for the but he wasn't on that page previously. The was in response to the knee jerk response of many on this page to crap all over the SID staff whenever anything goes wrong and in this case, the award solicitations (per the Cousy Award page link I included above) went directly to the coaches so it had nothing to do with them. In any event it was clearly an error to leave Chris Wright off the list and it was fixed. I hope you pointed out to Mr. Brennan that there is only one award-worthy Chris Wright in college basketball.

I mostly wanted to post here because I wanted to bump this thread back up to the top as I think Chris deserves to be a topic of continued discussion due to the fact that he's made such drastic changes to his game much to our benefit this season. Also, he's clearly one of the top barometers of how this team is going to go day in and day out.
Picture being Chris Wright. You're a stud ball player out of high school. Everyone in the area in which you play knows this. You make it to the next level and you're doing well. Not fair. You're doing well. And you're improving. Then imagine that you're either told or you realize that in order for your team to be able to continue to improve, you have to change how you've always played your game. The game that you're really, REALLY good at. So good that you had numerous offers from quality schools to pay for your college education. In addition to which, assumedly, you realize that your going to struggle with the changes you'll need to make for your team and, likely, not look as good or stand out as much as you maybe would if you just continued playing your game. Your stats are going to suffer. The stuff you should do isn't going to be on Sportscenter the majority of the time. And other guys around you are transferring because they're in a similar situation or, at the least, similar enough such that you really have to wonder what to do.
Decision time.... what choice do you make? Our boy made the right decision. And the decision that's going to be the best for him in the long run. Certainly in the short-term there were moments where it wasn't pretty and probably seemed like a God-awful decision to Chris. I want to state unequivocably how much respect I have for Mr. Wright for what he's done for himself and this team of Hoyas by taking the tougher path. Well done. Keep it up Chris. You're a ton of fun to watch play and improve game by game and I hope you reap every reward that you so richly deserve for having made the choices that you've made. You're exactly what Georgetown basketball should be about. HOYA bleeping SAXA!
