Otto Porter, right now, is the second best ballhandler on the roster behind Markel. He offers a 6-9 guy who can hit jumpers, pass, play defense, crash the boards and get out on the break.
At worst, he's our sixth man to start the season. I would love to see a lineup of Markel, Hollis, Otto, Nate and Henry...with Vee, Jason, Jabril, Markel and Tyler being the second unit.
Jason would be invaluable as a sixth man because he can concentrate on scoring and play two positions off the bench. His minutes would be roughly the same either way.
Either way, this team is long, athletic, skilled, tough with Nate and Tyler, and has serious potential.
We can make some noise next season

I agree that we shouldn't put too much pressure on these freshmen, but the markel, clark, hollis, nate, henry lineup just feels like a continuation of the mentality of the last few years. We need some fire in there and we need to shake things up. Nate WAS the fire this year.

I'm not sure about second best ballhandler. Whittington's pretty good for his size too. Don't sleep Chi

He's a better ballhandler than Vee...and that's not a knock on Vee, who can handle it fine....Otto's just better

Nate is a smart, tough banger who has some skills he just needs to develop. He will not be "out", but will have to fight like everyone else for PT. We know he will battle every day.

Crash -- you'll look great in Blue and Gray! Is Bubba going to put that name on the back of his Hoya Jersey? Gotta love it! Thanks for your insights along the way. And welcome to GU. It's GREAT to be a Hoya fan! Not gonna lie, it would have been nice if he went closer to home so I could go see him play more often. But in the end, I think this is the best decision for Bubba and I am really excited. I guess this just means I'm gonna have to plan a trip to the east coast sometime this winter. I had gotten the chance to talk to both Coach Thompson and Coach Kirby this year and both seemed like great people. I think in the end, that was a big reason he picked Georgetown. I know Bubba will do fine there both on and off the court. He really is a great kid who has a good head on his shoulders. He's a hard worker who doesn't take anything for granted so while I don't expect him to start from day 1, I wouldn't be surprised either. Understand your feelings Crash--but thanks for all of the updates throughout the year and just know that one thing I think I speak for entire board/fanbase--the way the Porter family handled his recruitment was refreshing and that goes even if he didn't choose Georgetown (as I've stated numerous times). No matter where he went-Id' have followed him/pulled for him because he spent time working on his game and being a leader for his school team and not having an agenda with his recruitment like so many young guys get sucked into with the AAU/Shoe Companies at work. To learn the history of the family and how close knit everyone was-/staying home to play and still allowing Otto to make his own decision--very impressive and shows how much you all care for him. Wish him the best-but dont' think he'll need it with that type of love/support system in place--he'll be a success on/off court and long after basketball is over. Can't wait to see him play this weekend and excited to have him be a HOYA!

Guys--let's just enjoy the commitment and welcome Otto/Bubba!
Lineup wise--it'll play out and Hoyas will have extra time to work that out--as the trip to China is extra practice time as well as an awesome bonding experience everyone will have with them for rest of their lives.
First things 1st--we get to see him this weekend at Jordan Classic--Saturday at 8 EST on ESPN2!

Work hard on your game, stay close to family and those who put your needs first, lead your school to championships, and then find the best fit. So many recruits want to "get theirs" and be given what's coming to them. Mr. Porter has shown a willingness to work for his. It shows a maturity and a willingness to be self-driven and guided by those who have your best interests at heart. Welcome to Georgetown Otto Porter!

I am amazed that the Moses thread has almost 70 more posts and 20,000 more views than the Otto thread. Incredible...

I wonder if the trip to China played a part with Otto - a fantastic experience for a kid whose family seems to value the right experience as much as the prominence of the program.

Hope all this height doesn't make Lubick the odd-man out. Last time I looked Nate was listed at 6' 8 1/2"... He'll be fine.

If our frosh are really good and the sun smiles on us the starting 5 should be Starky Love Clark Thompson Lubick Adams This, except Sims probably starts over Adams. III values experience, and tends to play it. Unless Sims' play improves significantly over last year, however, expect one of the bigs to move him out, or Sims to get the quick hook.

I personally am not a huge fan of this lineup as it reverts back to the status quo of the past few seasons. I'd really like to see us shake it up and get some fresh blood in there.

I think we could all be vastly underestimating Jabril's role in the equation. We are losing Freeman and Wright....wouldn't be surprised if he worked himself into the starting line up at some point.
That the beauty of this team...we now have options and these options are of the more athletic variety.
