The post just says:
"Otto Porter appears to have verbally commited to Georgetown. Tough loss for Mizzou hoops, but then again, when do we ever land top in state kids?"
No idea if it's from real sources or just reading various message boards

GabeDeArmond Reports/rumors that Otto Porter has committed to Georgetown are false according to Porter's HS coach Kenyon Wright. #Mizzou
Good news!

Also, win or lose on Otto, it is clear that JT3 has realized what needs to be done talent-wise and size-wise to compete at a high level. In retrospect, this year's team was limited athletically, with a 6'3" SF in Austin, a 2G without a handle in Clark, and a physically limited center in Julian, who tried hard but seemed to wear out at the end of the year. I've seen this comment several times about JTIII suddenly "realizing" what we need. Like it never occurred to him before (I mean, it must be because people on this board told him!). As if he has absolute control over which players come here and which don't. The fact is that we get to view and criticize with 20/20 vision. Could III have foreseen that Clark wouldn't develop a handle? That Julian, who was Virginia Mr. Basketball, would never really develop at all? It would have been nice to have AF playing at the 2, but we just didn't have the personnel for it. It would be one thing to say "I'm glad that it looks like III will finally get the talent/type of player he needs." That's valid. But come on, like he wouldn't have liked to have gotten that sort of talent/player before. Whether that's entirely his fault is another matter (my opinion is that he certainly shares some blame; how could he not? But he can't control where the recruits go--they ultimately decide that). Agree SWhoya. While JT III has had his share of misses in recent years, if you look at the kids being recruited, it is clear that we have gone after quality athletes who could produce at this level. We just missed on some--Roscoe Smith, Rodney Hood, Christmas, and now Ochefu. It is not as if JT III was not on several highly ranked recruits. A better criticism might be asking why we missed out on so many. Is it the assistants, the style of offense, the school's academic reputuation as being rigorous, JT III's reputation for playing a short bench, or some other cause. Time for everyone to chill a little. Focus on reality--the failure has been in getting the 5 star recruits, not ignoring them in the recruting process.

meh, that facebook is repeating the same rumors no one knows anything definitive. Now there's a tweet from mizzou's rivals site saying his coach says the rumors are false.

yes, i've got a window with a realtime alert for "otto porter" open at work. sigh.

I was told he REALLY enjoyed his visit but has not committed. That doesn't mean he won't, just that the the odds of him being a Hoya have increased.

A better criticism might be asking why we missed out on so many. Is it the assistants, the style of offense, the school's academic reputuation as being rigorous, JT III's reputation for playing a short bench, or some other cause. . OR THE FACILITIES? the fact that we're so close with a number of highly regarded prospects + still bringing in top 25 classes (maybe even better if Porter does come to georgetown like he should) when we don't play on campus, don't have a practice facility worth crap and there isn't yet construction on a new one, is pretty damn impressive. Imagine what JT3 could do with an elite practice facility! As excited as I am to possibly get Porter, the idea that this is a watershed or new is silly. The watershed moment in recruiting for g'town was Monroe, imo. We can't define recruiting by future success in school. Beating Duke for a priority announced georgetown under jt3 as a legit elite NATIONAL recruiting threat. The problem is that the transition from just locking down as much local talent as possible to looking national was bumpy and so we had some small classes with near misses and letting local players get away. What's exciting to me, beyond the talk of "talent" or "athletes" or whatever, is the combination in this class of national elite players (Porter, hopefully + Adams), local and semi-local under the radar players (Trawick when we got him + Whittington as well), and prominent local players (Hopkins, as much as we seem to be worried about his "motor" is pretty prominent considering who was recruiting him). It seems the coaching staff figured out how to recruit across the spectrum. That's exciting for future years, assuming this is the new norm.

Yep - does seem like the same rumors are just swirling around. As for Otto's coach - we see that over and over again - HS coaches are very often not the first to know and seem to be surprised when the decision was made without them.

Otto's coach very well may be keeping this for quiet for Otto to announce on his own terms.
