hometown,
people are awed by his timing and ability. I haven't seen him live, but again from what I hear; he is an incredible shot blocker, whether it be weakside, straight up and recovery. Just needs to get stronger. I hear his offense is coming, but well behind his defense. Being compared to a young Ewing with his timing.

I'm not going to bag on Christmas, because he was best shot blocker in '11 class and would've filled a void Hoyas haven't had in a while. Noel is a dominant presence-Zo/Ewing type of presence on defense. Had 12 blocked shots in 1 game at latest EYBL session and changes as many shots as he blocks. Very bouncy/quick recovery jumper--where he can challenge one shot, and quickly challenge another.
Scouts have also been talking about what a great passer he is too--which is a nice attribute to have-and he's a strong finisher around rim. Reportedly has good form on jumper but doesn't do much offensively and needs to develop back to basket game.

To be honest, I was just having a little fun with the Christmas/Noel - holiday theme. ;D Next time, I'll try to phrase it better!

Shotblockers are fun but they are more useful on defense if they are shot intimidators. Great to also hear that he is a strong passer, reminds me of another Hoya: tall, shot blocker/intimidator, soft hands, decent jumper form. Only difference is that I am sure that Noel can do squats and pushups by the time he would get to the hilltop. All he needs to learn is the jump hook/hooker cross the lane and he will still be able to be effective while expanding his game further.

I just hope Hoyas success rate of recruiting program changing Centers from Boston matches their failures with big men from Philly. ;D

rooter doesn't make too much of that [but thinks to himself, Yahoo!!].
btw, I'm not keen on those who refer to themselves in the third person, unless they are Ricky Henderson or a professional wrestler. So before anyone gets too critical, this is just a little gag.

The kid loves GU, yet this review misses it completely.

Jeff Borzello did what everyone has--just named the teams Nerlens has mentioned and Nerlens himself has stated he had "several calls he missed/wasn't able to return yet" when referring to his list of suitors.

Anyone looking to see Nerlens can do so tonight (July 15)/7PM on ESPNU -- per article below (excerpted for the good stuff), his AAU team just advanced to the Final of the Peach Jam, lead by his rather Dikembe-esque triple double stat line in the just completed semi . . .
NIke Peach Jam 2011: BABC's Nerlens Noel Notches Triple Double In Victory Over Oakland July 15 1:15p by Kris Willis
Nerlens Noel recorded a triple double while leading his BABC club to a 74-60 victory over the Oakland Soldiers and into tonight's championship game against Memphis. The 6-foot-10 center from Everett Massachusetts came up with 12 points, 10 rebounds and an astounding 11 blocked shots in the victory. BABC jumped out to a 9-0 lead to start the game and cruised into the half up 34-21. Oakland played them even in the second half but couldn't overcome the slow start with Noel effectively closing off the paint. ... With the victory, BABC advances to the championship game where they will take on Memphis YOMCA in the finals. Tip off for the championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPNU.

He's going to "trim" his list to 15 after July. I heard him say it 3 times this week, the most recent about 4 hours ago after his win in the semis.
