Yeah, I saw that, too. I am not a big fan of Reilly but I give him credit from being willing to write that piece at this time. Although, in the end, it is not even as harsh as you'd think.

My personal dilemma - my wife, who watches virtually no basketball other than what seeps in through osmosis while I am watching, picked Duke to win it all. If they win one more game, she wins our office pool and I get 4 cases of beer, since she doesn't realy drink beer. I hate Duke. Even rooting for them to win one then lose one would be excruciatingly painful. What to do?

Remember, beer is cheap.

I have a few c notes riding on this Duke/WV game. If Duke wins, I win the pool. But if they lose, I'd be just as happy.

I'll be honest that I'm rooting for a Duke/Butler final as the ultimate showdown of good versus evil.

I have a few c notes riding on this Duke/WV game. If Duke wins, I win the pool. But if they lose, I'd be just as happy. So, like all lovers of good and haters of evil with no other financial motivation, I am rooting against Duke this weekend. But I must say it would only take a small stake in a Duke win for me to change my mind. Of course, it would also have taken a lobotomy that removed all memory of 1/30/10 to allow me to wager on Duke winning the championship this season. I think that is what galls me the most about this Duke team (and frankly Butler as well) - I see them as unworthy champions because I saw both teams totally exposed by our Hoyas this year. A long time ago, I know, but I can't shake it. West Virginia, not so much - they beat GU twice, once in a route and once in a close game where they clearly played better but GU almost stole one anyway. I also root for the conference when I can, and I enjoyed their fans even in defeat at MSG this year, so I will swallow my distrust of Huggins and cheer for the 'eers.

Having no money at stake, but having an extreme dislike of the Dufies, gotta root for the BE. Huggy is bearable (pun intended) in short doses. Go Mountaineers!!!

I avoid ever picking Duke to play out their seed so that I never get put in the sort of moral dilemna that Frasier and theexorcist in.

Show a little spine, man!

If WVU wins, I still tie for first place in my office pool.
This shows you something about the people I work with and their level of basketball knowledge. The guy who would tie me is, yes, a Dookie.
I had Georgetown winning it all, as I usually do. I am hopelessly loyal.

Eeegads, I just checked my office pool standings for the first time since midway through the first day. Two-thirds of us did not pick a single FF team correctly. If WVA beats Duke but loses in the title game, I win the most disgraceful March Madness office pool of all time. It's sad but true. Thankfully it conforms exactly to my preference set for this weekend so there are no moral or ethical qualms in my household.

Screw WVA. It doesn't help us for a BE football school to win the NCAA, especially one whose football coach openly speculates about the end of the conference. Go Duke.

Add me to the list of those who will be financially rewarded by a Duke victory. I was in that position already with their game against Baylor, and I hated it. I just can't stand Duke, so I kept finding myself pulling for Baylor even though I "wanted" Duke to win. In any case, my "Sagarin" entry has clinched half of the pool and a Duke victory over W. Va. clinches the other half. But a W. Va. victory will mean it will come down to the tiebreaker of total points in the tital game.

I am on board with supporting Duke ahead of WVU. Don't get me wrong - I loathe both teams. The thought of listening to the Let's Go Mountaineers chant once more this season is too disgusting to stomach.

I almost threw up in MSG when they played the John Denver WV song more than five times. Enough is enough. Got to route for Butler, since we beat them at MSG.

I couldn't escape Country Roads that night. Plus my umbrella was murdered by the wind-driven rain, so I was also soaked. An altogether regrettable Saturday evening.

I believe Bill Danoff is performing at the John Carroll weekend this year in DC.
Is that Boo appropriate if he plays "Country Roads?"

The thought of listening to the Let's Go Mountaineers chant once more this season is too disgusting to stomach. I think that's a universal feeling. Like all schools, Florida has its rivals. But is it really surprising that my friend who lives in Tennessee especially hates the Vols ... or that my friend who lives in Atlanta despises Georgia? That's all he hears about Dawg this Dawg that. So I guess it really is a matter of perspective. But I've got to side with those who are sick and tired of hearing John Denver songs.
