From Julian's Twitter: Are you excited to get South Florida again after what they pulled at the end of the game at Verizon? i mean we dunno if we play them yet...but i would love to play em again def I'm sorry if this comes across as out of line but Julian needs to shut up. Of all the starters he has been the most unreliable and the most consistently invisible during BE play. I don't think he did much in the previous game against USF. So spare me with all that talk about wanting to play the Bulls again. Instead maybe he should set a goal of being the best player he can be every time he steps on the court. If he had that attitude the Hoyas woud have a few more wins under their belts this season. Jesus, what the hell do you want him to say? That he is scared of playing them becuase they beat him up last time? Its not like he was blabbering to the media about how he wants revenge on them and is personally going to kick D. Jones's ass back to SoFlo - he was asked a question, and gave what I thought to be a perfectly appropriate answer. That said, I agree that him being more consistent (along with Clark and Hollis) is key to any real post season success.

I am pretty sure that was the most innocuous thing a player could ever say.

It's time for this team to show some swagger. They've come through the hardest regular season schedule this fan can ever remember, with some of the biggest wins, and the late season Austin illness swoon notwithstanding, they completely put to bed any notions of a second straight late-season collapse last week at Freedom Hall. Now, I'm not advocating any chest thumping smacktalk, but a little lower case confidence ala Julian is more than welcome. Honestly, I think mojo is probably the most important factor going forward for these Hoyas. This may be the first Hoyas team in my memory that is built more on you not being able to stop them, as opposed to them stopping you. These Hoyas certainly can score with anybody I've seen, and when they hit top gear, they'll put 30 on you in heartbeat, just ask Coach KY and the Pukies. Of course, we need to able to gut it out inside and win ugly. This is March, it's New York City, it's Madison Square Garden, it's the Big East Tournament. Totally the truest test of testicular 'termination this team is likely to tend to this term. As we know, if we win the Big East Tourney, we are guaranteed* a trip to the Elite Eight, and most likely to the Final Four. I personally believe that these Hoyas can only be stopped by these Hoyas, and are poised to achieve greater plateaus of consistency and success starting Wednesday...
LETS GO HOYAS!!!!!!

I am pretty much of the opinion that the entire world really needs to stop paying so much attention to and caring so much about anything that anyone writes on Twitter.
Because it's freaking Twitter.

Didn't a winless DePaul team get a victory over Cincinnati in last year's BET? I don't really remember because after the loss to SJU, I pretty much checked out of watching last year out of frustration.
Always think it's important to play well at BET. When Hoyas win the BET, the worst they've finished in NCAA's is in Regional Final--and I love that streak. '96 team made Regional Final in loss--but we all know that should've been a win, but you get point. Better to play well in BET then to stink--and if the team is all geared up for USF--good--only thing that scares me--what is USF loses? That is exact type scenario this year's group hasn't proven to hold up well.
As for those who don't think DePaul has a shot--they have beaten Marquette, given Syracuse all they wanted, and played far better under Webster in terms of effort/intensity. Kowshal is an excellent player and Will Walker is a good guard. It wouldn't surprise me at all and if it happens--just hope Hoyas are focused on what they can control and not overlooking anything.

MCI you've been extra edgy lately. That's the type of attitude i'd want people on our team to have.

USF is playing for a spot in the NCAAs. I don't think they will lose to DePaul.
And they'll still be playing for that spot on Wednesday, so I expect we'll see their best effort.

We want their best effort - then after we smack them down, we can see how mcuh crow Jones et al. are able to suck down their throats.

DePaul isn't winning two games in a row. If Tuesday happens to be their one "not horrible shooting" game per month and they stun the Bulls, there's absolutely no way whatsoever that they'll repeat the performance the next day. The team simply cannot shoot. Their effective FG pctg on the season ranks 311th in Division 1.

Pomeroy runs the numbers and gives the Hoyas the best chance of any of the Wednesday teams to advance to Thursday (80.9%)--interesting given that we're the lowest of the "high seeds" playing that day. Despite playing Syracuse we also have the second-best chance (27.9%, after Marquette's 35.1%) of any Wednesday team to get through to the semifinals. Overall, he gives us a 7.1% chance of being the champion--that's only slightly below Pitt's 7.7%. www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=971

Just idle musings...
How valuable is the #8 seed as compared to #9? In theory, a Tuesday game vs Depaul could be seen as a probable "extra" win for our season record, that we otherwise don't get to have. An extra game to watch & enjoy. Other than that, it's the same - South Florida, then SU.
I suppose the answer is that it's a little better to be rested, and that it is harder to win 5 in a row than 4. OK. Can't wait til Wednesday. Go Hoyas!

Go Hoyas! Two points: 1) Our goal is ALWAYS to win the Big East Tournament. We're Georgetown, and it is as much our tournament to lose as it is for anyone else. Therefore, one less game is ALWAYS better. 2) We learned last year that playing on Tuesday isn't a guaranteed win. 3) One extra day of rest will help this team.

A practical question at this point:
These games are all going to be broadcast on ESPN 360, yes?

"Nowadays, we have bloated conferences, with tournaments that mean little in the big picture. The Big East tournament has lost much of its pizazz in the last quarter-century because all the really good teams are going to the nationals anyway.
Much of this week in Madison Square Garden will be spent with Big East coaches at the 20-victory level lobbying for why their teams should be given a bid. The Big East, and all the other big tournaments, have become a haven for quibblers."www.nytimes.com/2010/03/07/sports/ncaabasketball/07vecsey.html

If George is only talking to Jim Boeheim at the BET, no wonder he feels that way.
