I believe at the end of the game he ran to the GU student sections and taunted them, yelling something like "You came to watch Dominic Jones" or words to that effect.

A couple of thoughts from scenic Palm Desert, California (and yes I will crawl on a red-eye to get to Wednesday's game). Gang: we're in single elimination land. Our next two losses will be the last two of what I think most of the posters would agree has been an up and down season. We don't need to win the BET to get a decent seed in the NCAA's, but how we perform does matter. A great deal of that is on Coach. Having said that, I'm pretty surprised that the posters on this thread (and no one with a day job should be expected to read all of the threads on this board) have not taken JTIII at his word: this team (until yesterday) hasn't been healthy in weeks. Look folks, I 'm just a lawyer, but I sure as hell can't perform at my best when I'm under the weather and what we expect these young men to do is a world harder than what I (and, I think, most of the rest of the posters) do day to day. I think, if we're healthy, we can make some noise in MSG. I'm flying across the country to watch that happen. Best to all of you and Go Hoyas!

At the end of the game...while a USF player was at the line, Chris Howard was in Austin's ear. Austin walked all the way over to JTIII to get away from Howard.

I think everyone is overlooking DePaul who I used to think were laughably awful but over the past month have demonstrated that they are simply really bad. Their last eight games have been single-digit losses, including a four-point game against USF last week. They won a game in the BET last year. At the very least, USF is going to have to work for this win.

Depaul is not an awful team now and they have to have one variable go right (shooting) and suddenly they can give a team trouble. It happened last year and it could again this year.

Not disagreeing at all. We deserved the 8 seed, and I am not sure we deserved any easier path. Part of me, however, agrees with what others said. I like that we might have the chance to play USF and Syracuse again. It's a good test for us. Much better than your initial wimpy response ;D i am an attorney. I waver a lot. I definitely think DePaul has a chance to win that game. When has USF ever been under this much pressure and in this position? I am sure they are thinking, if we beat Gtown we really can make it in. Oh, wait, DePaul decided to play against us? Oops.

The key is the first half against USF. If we come out like we did in the second against Cincy - we're on our way. If not, I don't know that we'll make it past the first round in the NCAA's. The key is the first 20 minutes. Every deep BET run that we've had we stepped on the court and dismantled people (the ridiculous passing display against Nova comes to mind) - hopefully this can be the same. We actually haven't dismantled people on ever deep run through the BET we have had. Unless you don't consider 2006 a deep run. I do consider 2006 a deep run since we beat just as many teams as we did in 2008 and played as many games as we did in 2007. Anyways, in 2006 we started both games down 10-0 against Marquette and Notre Dame. Went into half down 4 or so and ended up winning both games semi-comfortably. I think that will be the most likely scenerio for what happens this week. Start slow and then pick it up, which is basically what we have been doing all season.

I really hope we can break that trend starting with the BET. It's maddening to always play catch up. Then again, we jumped all over Syracuse up at the Dome and got creamed. How about steady all game?

A few people have made reference to D. Jones at the end of the 2/3/10 game. What exactly did he do? The last post in the game thread pretty much sums it up (although the wish part is a little over the top).

Devo is in a class all by himself

When you are an eight seed, you don't look at the brackets like you would as a top four seed.. The road will be long so you just take one game at a time. Off to NYC Monday evening for many days with old classmates, lots of bball and probably the development of hemorrhoids from sitting so long.

Alright, screw it. IF IF IF the Hoyas can get a big win against the USF/DePaul winner, I will sacrifice a couple days of my education to be in NYC for the rest of their stay.

Greg averaing 18/10 over the last 10. Tack on a healthy Freeman, a galvanized team, and a Chris Wright making good decisions and we are a TOUGH out. You can't ask anything else of a college basketball team. Let's do some damage! Right on, PGFC. GO HOYAS. TIME TO TEAR THROUGH THE BIG EAST!!!!

Kenpom gives us 5th best chance to win Big East.... "Outside of Villanova and West Virginia, there may not be a more difficult opponent in the league than the Hoyas, especially if Austin Freeman's health is no longer an issue." www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=971

From Julian's Twitter: Are you excited to get South Florida again after what they pulled at the end of the game at Verizon? i mean we dunno if we play them yet...but i would love to play em again def I'm sorry if this comes across as out of line but Julian needs to shut up. Of all the starters he has been the most unreliable and the most consistently invisible during BE play. I don't think he did much in the previous game against USF. So spare me with all that talk about wanting to play the Bulls again. Instead maybe he should set a goal of being the best player he can be every time he steps on the court. If he had that attitude the Hoyas woud have a few more wins under their belts this season.
