The nice thing about USF is we know we can beat them. We outplayed them and brain-farted the game away in the second half, but today gives me hope that we're focused and ready to play winning ball again.
Jones in the Garden though is a scary thought. Definitely a kid on a mission who seems to like the big stage. But, we did hold him in check in the first half of that game. Make him work to get his 15-20 points and good things will happen for us.

Gilcrest is a beast as well. Plus they have athletic kids and that's what made them a bad matchup for us. We need to play well to win this game.

Why can't I, as fan 2,000 miles away from MSG look ahead to Cuse? Do you really think our chances of beating DePaul or USF are diminished if we talk about other teams on this board? I think one answer to this is that it shows a lack of respect for USF, who more than earned our respect by wiping the floor with us in our own building. Who cares who the fans respect? Syracuse fans are already getting ready for USF. Does that really increase our chances against USF or Cuse if we manage to win our first game? No. It really doesn't matter what the fans think about the opponent. USF is going to come ready to play whether a few yahoos on this board respect them or not. I personally don't like talking about a who we might play in the third round before the second round is decided either. But thats just because it makes a loss that much more dissappointing in the end. Not because I think it actually matters what I am thinking. Heck, the team shouldn't even be thinking only USF right now either. They could easily lose to Depaul, they only beat them by four earlier this week. Going by scores, Depaul has a better chance of beating USF than we do.

What is the BE TV deal for the Tourney? I'm thinking that all the games are on ESPN2/ESPN but does anyone know for sure?

It might be WVU and then Pitt if 'Nova loses this. nova plays such ugly hackathons. This CBS game is gonna run like a half hour into the next game nice call, but it was more like 50 minutes!

Point out to me where it was that I suggested that anything posted on this message board will have any actual impact on the game. I missed that part. These are my favorite kinds of posts: someone writing anonymously on a message board to say "who cares what someone writing anonymously on a message board has to say!?"

Well, I did also include that it doesn't matter what I am saying/thinking either in there. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) And where did you suggest what people are posting on a message board matters? You responded to someone asking why it matters that a fan 2000 miles away is thinking ahead to USF with it shows lack of respect for them. Meaning it actually matters what I, or others thinks/respects*. It doesn't. Cinci fans could have thought we were the worst team in the Big East going into this game and it wouldn't have changed the result. We could look ahead to the 2014 NCAA tournament and it wouldn't matter one bit what happens on the court. Its just a fact. You may not have MEANT it actually matters who fans respect or not, but can you see how someone could interpret it that way?

And how many really athletic kids did Notre Dame display when the Irish beat the Hoyas. Seriously folks here are spooked over every team for different reasons. Truth is if USF beats the Hoyas again the Bulls prove themselves to be the superior team. But perhaps if more than two or three of the Hoyas actually show up Gtown can win. Is Chris going to have another bad game? Will Julian and Jason disappear? Will Greg be aggressive? Will anyone on the bench contribute? How much do they want it?

Basically, we're in agreement on this--the point in discouraging "when we play Syracuse" talk is that it makes I/you/we look foolish if we never get that far, or, as you put it, makes the Wednesday loss feel all the more disappointing. In other words, I don't want to start getting excited about Thursday yet because it will make a loss Wednesday even more disappointing than it would otherwise be (especially disappointing in this case because I'm not getting into NYC until Wednesday night).

Definately a tough draw. Now I'm going to have to formulate a good excuse to miss class for the first hour on Wednesday, and that excuse must have a logical extension to miss the same hour again on Thursday. Hmmmmm..... any suggestions?

Greg averaing 18/10 over the last 10. Tack on a healthy Freeman, a galvanized team, and a Chris Wright making good decisions and we are a TOUGH out. You can't ask anything else of a college basketball team. Let's do some damage!

Hmmmmm..... any suggestions? since when do people need excuses to miss classes? and yeah i jsut checked the tv guide and it also says that wednesday at noon should be a BET game so i guess the BE website just screwed up. That's good news.

So are we 7th or 8th. I know we thought we were eighth for most of the day, but the internet consensus seems to be that we are seventh and notre dame is eighth now.
