sO WERE GOINGN TO PLAY cuse at noon on thrusday? That freaking blows? Why arent we in prime time?? I wanted to make a night of it thrusday with the fiance... sucksssssssssssssssssss We're not "going to" do anything Thursday unless we can figure out how to beat the team that walked into Verizon Center and handled us in early February. Nobody was suffering from health problems that night either. Unless DePaul can pull the shocker, Wednesday is going to be an absolute dogfight, and anyone who talks about that game differently is disrespecting a team that very much deserves our attention given what they did to us.

Let's focus on the positive. Hoyas gave their best full game effort in weeks - everything else today was out of our control.
There weren't going to be any easy draws in the BET. USF will be playing for a NCAA berth but our guys should want to play both usf and cuse. We have a lot to prove and the chance to do it.

I will say this. If we are playing cuse at noon on thursday--I am happy. We know all the trash/cuse grads pack the garden at night. I know what you're thinking---they don't have jobs anyways (especially in this economy) so they will pack the garden at 12 on thursday. Well, I am sure a good amount of the orange devils will be there, but I am sure for a lot of them, their 10-3 jobs will get in the way of seeing their beloved orange at MSG. This bodes well for us. They are trash, and I am beginning to hate Rautins as much as Devendorf. I recall the exchange of words with Wright last game. They know we have something for them.

Look at the Syracuse perspective. First, they lose a tough game closing Louisville's home court. And then, they have the prospect of playing GU in their first game instead of Notre Dame. They can't be very happy. Hopefully, we will make it hurt even more. Winning at noon let's you enjoy watching the later games.

I don't envy Marquette's Wednesday opener against either a desperate UConn team who MU beat on a buzzer beater or the St. Johns team that MU beat only with the benefit of overtime. I wouldn't be surprised to see Conn-Nova or SJU-Nova. Does anyone doubt, by the way, that if we are somehow able to gut it out and play our best hoops Wednesday and Thursday, we'll get through Friday night and have a shot at the title, which I'd guarantee if it wasn't the fourth game in four days and we had more than 5 real players.

Is there an argument to be made that Marquette shouldn't go dancing if it loses on Wednesday? Thanks to their big Buzz up today, they finish the BE regular season with exactly ONE victory (Louisville at home) over the top 7 finishers in the conference standings, three wins over NCAA-bound teams (Xavier four months ago, Hoyas at home, Louisville at home), zero road victories against any of the Top 9 in the conference, and zero road victories over any NCAA-bound team.

we cannot, I repeat, cannot afford to look ahead. Let's get through South Florida or whomever. If, and only if, that happens, then let's worry about Syracuse.
USF deserves our full undivided attention, both the players, the coaches, the fan base and anyone connected to georgetown basketball in any way shape or form.

Because I'm an optimist: "Graham's college statistics were not the stuff of legend: in his first 11 Big East games, Graham averaged 2.9 points and just over one rebound per game. Graham scored 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench in the season finale against Syracuse, but scored only one basket in the next two games, both of which were in the early rounds of the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden. The conference final, on March 9, 1984, began the Michael Graham legend." hoyabasketball.com/features/top100/m_graham.htm

You know what though...I am certainly not anticipating anything beyond Tuesday. Depaul is just weird enough (they were up nearly 20 on Cuse in the first half, and on SJU last night) that they could go off and do something screwy again like last season. And I really question how anyone at this point can confidently predict what the Georgetown Hoyas are going to do next.

That post was actually supposed to speak to the fact that we "only have 5 real players". Obviously, the 1984 team had more than 5 good players in their rotation, but one of the key ones (and the player that everyone seems to think of when they think of 1984) was an afterthought through most of his freshman year in the BE.

Why can't I, as fan 2,000 miles away from MSG look ahead to Cuse? Do you really think our chances of beating DePaul or USF are diminished if we talk about other teams on this board? Are you saying the team managers should only focus the first game? They might run out of Gatorade if they don't look ahead.

I think one answer to this is that it shows a lack of respect for USF, who more than earned our respect by wiping the floor with us in our own building.
