Solid road win against a top 50 RPI team. Great D in the second half. I am a 39yr old, quasi-sucessful guy and my mood is almost entirely determined by Hoyas wins/defeats - just as it was 20 yrs ago...not sure if that makes me young at heart or somewhat pathetic...whatever..let's go with it! Tell me about it, bro. I can enjoy the whole rest of the week now.

The bench was given much more of a green light tonight and they made it count. This might settle us into a 7 1/2 man that we're used to seeing.
Oh and I have to ask, did anyone see a reason why Vee hasn't been getting minutes? We can nit-pick the kid but he looked completely comfortable out there.

Something that should not be lost is that our defense was a major factor the turn around. This team wins games on the defensive end. Really reminded me of the '07 team with the shutdown D.

What can you say? Guys RESPONDED in the second half. We made that huge run because AFree went nuts, yes. But it was also due to OUR DEFENSE. 2 points allowed in the first 10 minutes of the second half basically sealed Louisville's fate. When you play rugged post defense and REBOUND, that's going to be the result. If I'm JTIII I use those 10 minutes as THE lesson for the season: defend your ass off and the rest will fall into place. I think Vee certainly earned some more minutes with his performance tonight. With CW continuing to struggle (yes he did well breaking the press, but was a non-factor on offense and did not lock down Sosa), Sanford should see some more minutes. How about that 2nd half from Greg? Did it all: scored, rebounded and found the open man. One of the prettiest looks I've seen from a big in awhile to Julian with the behind the head dish for a layup. JV continues to struggle. He just looks a step slow and those monster contributions that we saw in the Pitt, Duke and Nova games aren't just coming anymore. He really needs to step it up if we're going to end up making a run this year. Two enormous threes by Hollis today when our offense was stagnant early. Hopefully this game becomes his personal springboard for something better. Officiating: missed a lot of calls, but at least they had the decency to make this a game about the players and not a free throw shooting contest. We got outphysical-ed in the first half and went into half down. In the second half, we were by far the more aggressive team, and the rebounding advantage we had is a testament to that. Whatever JTIII said to the guys at halftime worked in terms of firing them up. The next step now is to make sure the physical play, the attention to defense and rebounding are there for 40 minutes. Not 20. But great step in the right direction today, Hoyas! Maybe Chris didn't lock down Sosa because he wasn't guarding him once the whole game? Idk that probably played a factor. And Chris did a really great job not forcing his shot AND creating for his teamates. Not to mention he was a one man press break. He didn't struggle against Cuse, and outside of a few mistakes he didn't struggle tonight.

One of the best defensive performances by Greg Monroe. Big props to CW basically handled the vaunted press by himself. still want to call him a selfish player? Austin words donot do him justice when he goes off like that there may not be a better player in the country. He is just so damn effecient.

Super Freek, super Freek, he's super-Freek-ayyyy.. YOW.
Went off again. When he's on, he's really, really on. Great job by Chris finding him and what the heck was L'Ville thinking not finding him at all?
I felt like I was watching Georgetown/Quette all over again from the other side.

Their offense in the second half was to dump it down to Samuels if Sosa couldn't get to the basket. Great interior defense by our guys rendered him, and their offense, largely ineffective.

I think he'll turn it around, but saying that he didn't struggle tonight is some heavy, heavy spin.

Worst half ever followed by pretty **** good half. Beggars can't be choosers. I'll gladly accept the win.

Louisville stinks. I've had enough of that Dave Pasch-hole too. That edited spent the entire game mentioning Syracuse and trying to paint the Hoyas as a BUBBLE TEAM. ESPN should really take it easy on the Syracuse tip. McDonough is bad enough but this Pasch rejoicing when Sosa hit the late 3 and screaming "It's not over yet."
This Hoya team is going to do some damage that people will not walk away from. It's open season.

He created a lot of baskets that didn't count as assists and he was a one man press break for God's sake. Tonight he didn't struggle, he had a very good game.

And that (arm falling off) is why you always have a bench. On a night where Chris couldn't score (not ripping him, I thought he was great on the press break and didn't force a thing) and Jason couldn't score (except for 1 HUGE 3), we got great contributions off the bench. Hollis's 2 3's steadied the ship early on, and he had a couple great defensive plays. Vee got on the board, almost made a ridiculous tip, but picked his head right back up and got us another shot at the end of the half. And Jerrelle made his first offensive move besides his drive to the paint move, and it was a dandy. While I do think all the handwringing about depth can be overblown most of the time, it was telling that we got such good work from our freshmen in a big game on the road.
So, looks like we can all take a deep breath (or at least half of one). I thought we played ok, except for stopping the ball in the first half. The second half was great. Austin was lights out, we ran our sets well, had very little trouble with the press, and defended so much better. Plus, every time they made a mini run to close the gap, we'd slam the door. Great methodical win for us at a very big time in the season. Gives us another really quality win, and hopefully the right amount of confidence to keep this going for the rest of the regular season. We have a chance to get all the way back to where we were post-Nova by the end of the regular season. Tonight was a big first step.

I'll echo the praise for the young guys - especially Vee who looked quite comfortable out there - and also for Greg and AF playing like stars when the team needed them to. Big, big win - and a new top 10 most hated big east target in Samardo Samuels. Can't stand him.
