I don't have much to say about last night. Did I enjoy it? Sure. But I didn't get a whole lot out of it, except the enjoyment of seeing Charlotte one more time before the series ends.
(Libby, please! Thank you very much.)
LockeNess is beginning to get a little annoying. I don't care if he turns out to be the good guy or the bad guy or somewhere in between in the end, but someone needs to punch him....hard.
And I didn't really appreciate the subtle dig at all the fans from Charles Widmore ("It's sad how little you actually know about what's going on.")
Hey, we've stuck with you all this time. You don't need to throw it back in our faces just because your are too clever by half.
As for who is in the locked room in the sub, while Penny and Desmond are a possibility, I read an interesting theory today that it was Theresa, the woman that Faraday drove crazy with his time travel experiments, but who Widmore kept alive. Interesting, I suppose, but just a guess like all the rest. And again, probably too clever by half.
I like Sheila Kelly (Zoe) and have ever since she was a desperate ginger in "Singles." How in the hell is that woman married to Toby Zeigler??
And no matter how much Sawyer tries to be -- well, I'll stick with my same phrase -- "too clever by half" in his dealings with Widmore and Locke, I'm pretty sure both of them know exactly what he's playing at.
Like TC, I am a little worried that the Sideways world is turning into little more than just playing out some major themes while throwing bones to the fans who have been with the show since the beginning. Glimpses of minor characters like Arzt, Charlie's brother, Keamy, Charlotte, etc., etc., etc. Or glimpses of major characters happening to cross each others paths. Something new needs to happen with these story lines besides just letting us get to know these characters better.
We know them already. We know who they are, we know what motivates them, we know all of their inner turmoil and angst, even if you are now couching it in a different set of external circumstances. Move it along, please.
At some point soon, we'll have Locke's wedding and I'm guessing that's where most of the poop will hit the fan in Sideways world.
I am interested in knowing how all of those people died on the Hydra island. It couldn't have been Locke, I don't think. As far as we know, he can't yet leave the main island, right? In the history of this show, has there ever been a sighting of Smokie/The Judge/The Security System on Hydra? I don't think so, because Smokie is tied to the main island.
So, it remains to surmise that Widmore killed them. But why? We don't really even know who they were, except a bunch of red shirts.
Last night's creepiest moment for me was not another sighting of Claire's abominable baby, it was Sayid being completely nonplussed about Claire trying to kill Kate. That was just plain weird.
While I don't think that Claire was able to "hug it out" and get rid of her crazy with one big cry, I do think that incident may have shown a crack in the manipulation that Locke has had over her. Claire and Kate are not done yet, but I think what happens next is Locke trying to manipulate Kate instead of Claire and try to kill her instead.
Locke's crazy mom is not John Locke's mom, of course, but almost certainly the Man in Black's mom. That is definitely rooted in some mythology or theology that we know, but I need to do some more work to try to find out what that is. There's lots of crazy moms in biblical or mythological tales.
And here is my final thought:
Clearly, in Sideway world, it wasn't just that Oceania 815 didn't crash; it's that the whole island hasn't existed -- at least above water -- for a long while. But Dharma WAS there at some point. We know that from Ben's conversation with his father last week.
So, Miles' dad is now a museum curator or something, and Dogen is a father of a piano not-quite-prodigy, and Ethan is an Obi-Gyn Kenobi, etc., etc. So, where is Richard in Sideways world? I guess we will find out next week.
Hopefully, we'll find out a lot more as well.
I guess I had a lot to say after all.
(Libby, please! Thank you very much.)
