I was at the game.....Very impressed with the performance last night. If Vaughn and Sims are capable of playing that level every night then we will be very very good.

Not sure where the offensive production comes from the bench. Primarily Hollis. His shot is too good for a 1-4 every night. Now that the first game back nerves are gone I expect much improvement. Nikita will have games where he daggers like he did against Syracuse last year but he still looks to be a year away from being consistent. Nothing like making projections based on 40 minutes of data acquired over a crappy internet feed, is there?

Very nice 2nd half effort!
Would have liked to see 8-10 minutes for Nikita...

Guys, I don' know if we can really be happy about this win. Based on what the Tulane announcers told me, we stole this one because of the MOST UNFAIR TECHNICAL IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME!
But seriously I'm very pleased. Beyond what people have already said I'll throw in that the Hoya fans were very noticeable over both the radio and in the video feed. Good job guys

Even though they were the most biased announcers ever, and found every possible excuse for every single bad Tulane play, you gotta love their enthusiasm. They were the equivalent of recording a fan after a couple beers at home yelling at the TV and justifying to his friend why his team isn't that bad.

I like the staring 5 as well. Not sure where the offensive production comes from the bench. I see Sims more for rebounding and defense. Hopefully Hollis can take the lead in that regard. Yup, I think that's going to be the question all year. Our starting 5 looks really good, but the question is going to be our bench, because in all honesty, as of right now we go 7 deep and that is never deep enough. Hopefully Hollis can provide some punch off the bench. Otherwise, any game we pick up some early fouls is going to be trouble. I have every confidence in the bench although I wanted Jason to come off it to give the second unit more seasoning. But my vote doesn't count. The bench guys will be fine. All five will contribute and I think Hollis, Nikita, Henry and Vee will be able to score. I don't even know why people are discussing it because even if Gtown had 3 All Americans coming off its bench most people here will be talking about limiting the rotation to 7 anyhow. It never fails with Gtown fans. We want every top notch recruit that's on the radar but as soon as the season starts we want to go no further than 8 deep.

It's really hard to extrapolate this game against the rest of the season, because while they are CUSA, they are lower CUSA and a really small team, but once we got about ten minutes in,
the turnovers declined.
And the rebounding was very good.
And we really ran the offense in the second half -- we took three less threes in more possessions and had a ton of layups.
We'll see if we can do it against the BE, but this is as good a start as really can be expected. Even against our weaker opening opponents last year, we struggled more on the boards, for example.

Plus, the game wasn't really as close as the final score. Now that it's done, I'm really glad we opened on the road against someone other than an obvious patsy. Temple should also prove a decent opponent, though the crowd will probably be very weak at 4pm.
Great to have Julian stepping up. He was the one that impressed me the most in the short Kenner season, glad the indications are holding up. An improved Freeman could be a real difference-maker, too.

Good job guys If that basket hang wasn't a technical, then they need to jettison the rule. There were no players underneath the basket - i.e. the Tulane player was not protecting himself - and the Tulane player pulled his knees up to within three feet from the rim.

Those announcers last night were ATROCIOUS. You would've thought they would've won going away were it not for that CRIMINAL technical that unfairly pushed their deficit to double digits. I'm not sure I've ever heard the word "mugging" used that often for a single game. Man, they were bitter.
Henry looks like he can run a lot more fluid now. Saw him make one really nice cut to the basket and I honestly at first thought it was someone else. Far less robotic in his movement.
Solid win from the guys, and I was generally pleased with the performance. Just gotta keep building on this because the road will get difficult in a hurry.

Not good. But they were all in the first half. In the second half he had ZERO TOs. That sounds like some first game, first half jitters. Maybe a little over anxious. But came out playing much better in the second half. Nothing to worry about.

Was at the game. Not too disappointed with Wright's performance, especially in the second half (in which he made an absolutely terrific steal off a court-length pass). I thought the speed of the game bothered both teams in the opening minutes, and Tulane was overall quick as advertised. Good win. Great atmosphere for a college game IMO.

lic, it appears that no one noticed whether your hypothetical was true or not. I'm curious, too.
Chris: 2A/4TO not good; 5 steals very good.
