Where did I say JT3 can't coach? And where did I "write off" Wallace? I acknowledged he was a great find while pointing out that he was a Princeton recruit first. As for high profile recruits, I would count Summers and Freeman as mild disappointments so far in their GU career. Greg and Chris have been good. Macklin was a disaster. For the record I think III is a very good coach who had a very bad year and is still figuring out his best recruiting philosophy. So please don't put words in my mouth to suit your argument. Sleepy? Sheesh. More like Grumpy. The not coach wasn't directed at you. It was more a pointed comment to all of those who have infact insinuated that on this board the past month and a half. I mean when The Hoya is putting out articles calling III a mediocre coach, the idea has become a problem. Also I wouldn't call Summers and Freemans careers disappointments. Could they have had better years? Yes, but everyone could have. Freeman did what was expected of him last year and Dajaun did his freshman and sophomore year as well, though he could have been more aggressive attacking the basket his sophomore year and finishing. Personally, I think this board is too hard on Dajuan. He had carried us in numerous games, and while he has obvious areas of improvement, he is also one of the better finishers and scorers and shooters on a team that lacks all three.

watching the video, this kid seems to do a little bit of everything, whereas guys like omar and nikita are really one dimensional right now, and he seems much more athletic than either of the two. he sort of reminds me of a dante cunningham type player. not saying he will end up being as good, but he looks the part. we need as many effort players willing to do the dirty work as we can get right now.

FWIW, ran into Blake HS's coach while watching the Pitt game at the bar at Thai in Silver Spring (try the Spicy, Crispy Catfish).Blake is next door school to Springbrook, and Jermaine Dixon's school. He said he thought Jamal was waiting to get an offer from GU, but that he didn't see him as BE talent, said Hobbs was coming hard, late and that A-10 was a better level for Jamal. Said Jamal was closer to 6'4" than 6'6" and not quick enough to play the 3 in the BE. Then again, said he thought it was a reach for Dixon to go BE when he coached him, Difference may be that Jermaine has an NBA brother to teach him things.

So if he were to walk on the only way he'd get any financial aid would be need-based?

Could Jamal be an Anthony Glover type kid? I am thinking of the former St. John's PF a few years back. He was about 6'5 but was an absolute force inside and on the boards? May not sound like an obvious choice for the Princeton, but Glover was all heart and big time motor. A kid like that might have a really positive influence on the current team.

He sounds like he has a little swagger and mouth to him, honestly, I would like that on the team. One or two guys like that is OK. I understand everyone's hesitation about using a scholly on him, but really would this be any different than using it on Omar or Nikita or Tyler? Again, has been said many times, you need 2-3 guys that are not legit BE material, but will work and be intense practice players that will go all out for those 5-10 minutes they get on the court. Also, I am not familiar with the DC metro recruiting scene, but could this help forge a relationship with what seems like a pretty good high school basketball program?
Personally, I am OK if we offer a local kid like this and would enjoy somoene on the bench that could get things fired up.

I was thinking of a 6'4 PF we had Perry McDonald....a guy who just knew how to score and rebound against taller players....
I'm starting to like this guy the more I'm seeing and hearing about him. I think he is a tough kid that this team needs, that plays with a severe chip on his shoulder. The other things in the films I saw is that he can really handle the ball even though he is a PF/C on his HS team, also in that Walbrook film how he block the hell out of Roscoes shot was impressive, granted Roscoe didnt see him and was off balance...it looked in the film of that game he is just a gamer who will come to play. I'd rather have that then a one dimensional player who doesnt always do that one dimension well. Kinda like Jason Clark is just a player...gets after it and wants to win.

I think I've said this elsewhere so I might be getting redundant, but Jamal O. is the type of guy we should be taking if we're taking some guys who aren't highly recruited. Local, a winner, some size, some upside, etc.

Sounds like if we offer him, he's a lock....I'd say III might be waiting to see what Sanford and Williams do, but I really like this kid. Could be a Paul Harris type if he works on his shot.

I suggested a perry comparison a while ago, but was told not quite to that skill level as perry was better offensively before his hoya arrival.

I like what i see in this kid. we need a ewing, jr. type. i get the sense that he wouldn't just stand around and watch the rebound go into someone's hands. he CAN score, he isn't a project either. chi www.theworldlovepoem.com
