He can play play and you know Bmore kids play hard. It would be a good get for the Hoyas.

How serious is the interest on both sides with Barton. Will this require offering his brother in a package. Are we looking at him to play a big guard or as a wing. whats the impact of Hollis at the three. For those who have seen him alot., does he have a legitimate handle to play the 2 at this level. im more concerned with the fact that we only have one proven guy that can handle ball coming back next year and dont think we can wait for 2010 to shore that up. Is he a true tough B'more kid we need that badly. comments welcome.

some of our players this year who got significant playing time would have trouble guarding this kid. This isn't really much of a compliment to Barton...

He plays the game with a bit of a flare, you see him yelling, pounding his chest, talking some trash. Personally I don't mind that and in fact would welcome a guy like that considering our team is always so mild-mannered. But it might rub some of the more "old school" types the wrong way.
Definitely going to be a good player though. Anyone know where he is heading to high school next year?

I thought he just transfered back to Lake Clifton this year. I'm old school but this team needs a big shot of emotion.

Hes blowing up. Had a great weekend at the Boo! There are some great stories on rivals.com. Consensus is that hes moving up in the rankings. Im my opinion, best prospect in 2010 maryland/dc/va class.

Yeah I kind of like him more than Roscoe already. Personally, we've spent so much time on Roscoe and he hasn't committed yet, I think that's a bad sign. For the average school that just goes after a kid when he's a sophomore or a freshman, he'll commit quickly(granted depending on the kid). I think Roscoe is just waiting for that UNC offer like half the other kids we're recruiting. Good for him. Let's take Will more seriously in the meantime.

What are the schools he's mentioning, just to know who we are up against?

louisville, kentucky, arizona, pittsburgh, maryland, florida, indiana, oklahoma, villanova.....and i am sure others will get involved as well.
more will get involved. Barton's recruitment has picked up since his grades have picked up and with his senior season.
RDF makes a good point re: Barton being older for his class. Some kids take time to develop. roscoe, however, is young for his class.
With all that being said.....give me both.

Check what I said in the 09 thread but I think it was Will Barton who was visiting today. I could be wrong so don't count on me for that...

It would be nice if Barton could stay local, but Coach Jefferson is a good coach/person and should do a good job of helping Barton continue to develop as a student athlete. South Kent also does a good job of getting kids qualified for college the correct way. Coach Jefferson just took an assistant coaching job at Washington. I have to be honest about Barton, his academic status is WORSE than Braswell's was at this point. Barton had good grades this past school year, but he failed ninth grade(had to repeat) and he almost failed tenth grade last year. I know Hoya fans clamour about why Gtown is not recruiting Barton harder and going after other prospects instead, but the staff is privy to information that fans are not. No way the staff is going to tie up a schollie on Barton when other players with equal talent are available that have better grades and are younger. So all spring and summer fans are going to say how come GU is tracking Kendrick or another player more than Barton, and the truth is that GU values those kids more. Barton will probably end up at one of those 5th year prep schools that just pass him through the system next year, and not do real work. Contrast that with a kid like latavius Williams who is really doing the work and taking extra courses to qualify...

Capitolhoops.com is hit or miss on info sometimes, but they make it sound like Barton to UK is likely and to be honest that's what I expect as well. Have read that Calipari is making a big push for him since moving to UK and wants him to go to a prep school in Kentucky. Not sure if that will happen but if I were betting I'd bet that he ends up at UK. capitolhoops.com/atkinschoosesnoredame.htmAlso in the same article, former Hoya target and former teammate of Henry Sims, Eric Atkins, committed to Notre Dame. Good fit for both sides I think, and not really a loss to the Hoyas considering that we landed our man at the point in 2010.
