Cook had a spectacular end of the season in the WCAC playoffs and city title game for DeMatha, including 28 points against Ballou in the city title game (though the Purple Eagles of Gonzaga won Alhambra last weekend). He would make a great addition to the Hoyas.
Anyone have an update on where things stand with Cook?

Haven't had one of those among the local stars in quite some time. Though I expect someone like Kentucky or Duke to come sweeping in and break the Terps heart by grabbing him at the end. I don't think Hoyas have that great a shot at this kid - great talent, and would love to have him of course, but doesn't fill a need for us in his class if our other players work out.

Give me Tyrone Johnson or Cook, and I'm happy with backcourt recruit in '11.

Ideally, I think III wants a bigger PG; that's why Ty's being courted a little harder than Quinn. 6-foot scoring guards are a dime a dozen, although Hoyas had a pretty good one back in the mid 90's. Anyway, Ty is longer and apparently is a better strapper than Quinn, which may prove to be a deciding factor if it comes to that.

My guess is that Quinn Cook could call any coach in America up and commit at this point. He is that good. I know that Ty has an offer, but I doubt it is at the expense of Quinn Cook.
I'm hoping we get Ty, Rakeem, Hopkins and Cook. That class would be absurd.

I'm hoping we get Ty, Rakeem, Hopkins and Cook. That class would be absurd. What would be the point in getting both Ty and Cook when Starks is already in the fold and will be the lead point as soon as Chris graduates? The other Hoya guards that will also be around when Ty and Cook are freshmen are Jason, Vee, Aaron and Hollis (who can play the two guard). That would be overkill. Gtown isn't an overkill program especially with III being a tad stingy handing out minutes. I am a DeMatha guy and I am proud of Cook's success. But this kid never saw a shot he didn't like. Austin, as a shooting guard at the Big D, was far more selective of his shots than Cook is as a point guard. Cook will have to do a bit of transformation like Chris Wright and learn how to play within a team scheme. Chris used to shoot like crazy too while in high school. But Chris did so while playing with a far less talented team at St. John's. Cook jacks up shots even though he plays for a loaded DeMatha. Its the one thing that worries me about his game although I'm not denying he's a fantastic talent.

Count me in the camp of rather having Johnson than Cook. I'd like to stay away from any more 5'10" shooting guards in a point guard's body.

Wow I saw Johnson play and I was not that impressed.

Hopkins would keep the Hoya train-a-rollin' if he came to Georgetown. Perhaps Austin can deliver a parting gift; besides the national title he'll help deliver next season.

His latest list (still very long). And you can scratch Kentucky off the list with the addition of Teague:
Kansas, Kansas State, Villanova, Baylor, Washington, Kentucky, UNC, Arizona, Georgetown, UMD, Virginia, South Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Notre Dame and, according to Quinn, "a few more".

Quinn is a fantastic scorer at the High School level but I question his ability to play the lead guard at the next level. Although very quick, I don't know how fast he is, but he is a terrific shooter

That's why we have markel run the 1 and have quinn at the 2 problem solved.

If nothing else, Jon Wallace's career illustrated that to run our offense you don't need to be overly athletic or have breakdown ability off the dribble. You need to be a leader, hit open shots, and get the ball to the right people.
Quinn Cook does all these things already, and would be the PERFECT point guard for our offense (in my humble opinion).

Telep article from TOC has Cook describing himself as "an ACC guy" with interest from UCLA, Arizona, Villanova, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Kentucky, Washington and NC State. He said Duke "stays in touch".

why recruit over Starks? Dwayne Bryant believes that Starks will become an outstanding Big East guard. Q. Cook is a personal friend with Chris Wright. Cook has been a facebook friend of mine for awhile. Great young man.....I am confident that Starks can be the man. If Cook would like to come I would take him with the understanding that he would have to compete for PT.
