Being local and Hoyas wanting to foster a continued relationship with DeMatha would seem to give Cook the advantage, if there is one. Johnson being bigger and more physical (football background) and having been "around" the program for a few years would seem to be his advantage, again if there is one.

Seems like first to commit is who we should take, can't go wrong.

That's assuming that the interest on the part of the player is equal. This is pure speculation on my part, but I have a feeling that TJ is more interested in us than Cook.

For those interested....a conversation broke out on the Duke Scout boards regarding the recruiting of Cook. Seems that a rcent article came out online about Cook being a prospect Kentucky was going hard after. A hissy fight starts as Duke fans claim that if Cook chooses Kentucky over Duke he has no class. UNC fans then chimed in about Cook visiting North Carolina's campus and referring to UNC as his dream school. Looks like all the Big Boys are after this kid. Should be fun. MCI = the hifi of the Duke message board? Nope. They were smart enough to ban me.

I won't say Cook isn't interested, but I think he's interested in alot of other schools too.

Quinn told me he was interested in the Hoyas but Ohio State and UNC are definately leaders.

Self was out watching Quinn (along with Mikael) last night (after Self went to see Selby).
Ohio State just got a commitment from Shannon Scott in the class of 2011 so it doesn't make sense for Quinn to go there. As for UNC, they have McDonald, Strickland, Drew II and Marshall coming in so again, doesn't make much sense if he wants PT.

Quinn told me he was interested in the Hoyas but Ohio State and UNC are definately leaders. Players at OSU develop injury issues. Does he want to spend significant portions of his career on crutches?

He said right after the Shannon Scott commitment that the Buckeyes were now out.

yeah we'll have markel and Clark but that's about it we need a guard in the 11 class. As I follow WCAC hoops quite closely, I'd love to have both, but I feel that ONE '11 scholarship for a guard will go to either Cook OR Chris Martin. Only one of them is the son of a Hoya. Just sayin'.

Assuming Clark stays for his senior year. What are NBA scouts saying about Jason? Does he have a chance to leave early and be a 1st round pick? That would be the only way I would see him leaving early.

Cook would get limited playing time behind Kendall Marshall at UNC. I have watched Marshall play a lot over his four year high school career. He is the BEST true PG I have ever seen in High School.
His passing ability is bar none. His outlet passes might be the best I have ever seen. Jason Kidd and Steve Nash are the only two other people I have seen make some of the passes Marshall is able to make.
He finally got his grown man size this last year. He is a true 6'4 now and has hit the weights hard over the summer. His quickness is a little bit questionable, but Marshall should have a great College and NBA career ahead of him.

If he's as good as that, his college career will last one year.

I listened to Quinn Cook on the recruiting podcast from the guy from the WaPo. IMO, Cook will end up at either UNC or Kentucky. He said one of his biggest influences in the recruiting process is Curtis Malone. When asked about what schools are recruiting him, Kentucky and UNC instantly came to his mind. Georgetown and Maryland we after thoughts when naming the schools that were recruiting him.

The Rod Strickland connection has really helped Kentucky's chances...even moreso than Calipari and John Wall.
