If I were Latavious, I would want to join a team that has a chance to be one of the best in the country next season. If DaJuan returns, the team's will be better. Hey... JT3 got the kid to come to GU. I hope his mom or dad (or both) come too -- let them meet JT3, Monica, Pops.... Jeff Green's mom. And let Latavious get some run with the team in practice, or pick up. He can see for himself just how good they are.
And he'll get a feel for GU. Some kids love it. Other kids... (e.g. Stromile Swift) would rather the big State U. than Philly Cheese Steaks with Jahidi.
Hope he makes the right decision because there is a gaping hole for someone with his physical gifts and his game.

DaJuan leaving or not I think is irrelevant if Williams comes....he will most likely move to the 3 with Austin and Chris as the guards Williams/Sims as 4 and Greg as 4/5 I interpret his comments as explaining what was said rather than "if this happens then I am coming" You would think the prospect of getting to play on a very good team like Georgetown in a major conference with an opportunity to get major burn as a Freshman at his position is what he is looking at
edit: beat me to it Saxa!

Guys--Greg Monroe chose Georgetown because he was told he'd have to fight to earn playing time/minutes--so I highly doubt anyone else is going to be promised a thing if the #1 player in country wasn't. It was appealing to Greg and he loved Georgetown when he visited and decided.
Latavious is a really important recruit--especially if III went down to visit with him last week. That said--he's not going to get any promises and I really don't think any player continues to list a program that operates as Hoyas and others do if that is their M.O. Thing that matters most--letting him visit, see how he fits in and if he decides to come.
Once a player visits--he gets scoop from coaches and more importantly players on how things work--but I think it's obvious that Hoyas don't play guys based on recruiting rep and minutes are earned--look at Nikita who is starting now--and he wasn't even ranked. He earned his time in practice. If Summers stays-he's a SF--which was his role in BE/BET Championship and Final Four season. If he's gone--then Latavious/Henry Sims battle it out and Hollis steps up to SF role imo.

All recruits take into account potential for PT. It's not a big deal. I'm sure it will be one factor among many.
There's nothing surprising here.

Assuming Summers and Monroe stay, I think we're set with or without him. We would have:
4/5 - Monroe, Vaughn, Sims 3/4 - Summers, Nikita, Hollis, with an option for Freeman at the 3 as needed.
Adding another 4 would be nice (and if he wants to come, I'd be really happy to have him), especially if he is a physical defender and rebounder. I just don't think its a dire need, again, as long as we get everyone back next year.
I do wonder what position Nikita and Hollis are going to be in next year. If Summers is the primary 3 and doesn't need to spend any significant time at the 4 spot, that leaves 10-15 mpg at the 3 for those two. I guess whoever is better will get the vast majority, and the other will just get spot minutes here and there. It seems that III and the team are pretty high on Nikita, but I do hope that Hollis is able to get some good minutes next year, as he seems to have the potential to be a great player for us. Any chance HT gets minutes at the 2? That would be a huge lineup.

We have everyone this year and there is still a need at the 3/4/5 for depth, toughness, defense and rebounding. None of which is on the team this year in the post. Williams brings all of these things as well as a stank that is sorely needed. We're not just talkin about having enough bodies, but capable bodies. Nikita is improving, but he ain't there yet. Hollis and Nikita would be reserve 3's; neither's handle is adequate enough for the two. Hell, neither is Austin's! Anyway, a combo at the 1/2 and 3/4 is essential, imo. 5 too.

No, I'm definitely not insinuating that JT3 has been doing that. It's not his style at all. I'm just hoping that Williams isn't extrapolating from the idea of Dajuan jumping that there's going to be a big void which he'll clearly step into. I basically don't want him to shy away from us if it turns out Dajuan's coming back. Fair enough. What are the dates for declaring / returning? Because I'd think that Williams would have committed prior to Dajuan coming (unless he doesn't declare for some reason). Obviously, I could be wrong on that. I seem to remember that last year college players had until around June 15th to remove their names from Draft consideration.

I think that Williams (from the few videos I have seen and what is written here) fills the "thug" role that Pops was talking about earlier in the year. He just happens to a very skilled "thug" who has a lot more to offer than just banging.

The ways Dajuan is playing, he better think twice. Jt3 does this all the time. Put in the fullcourt press and pulls one out of his hat.

the debacle last night showed how much we need someone that can play defense and get rebounds.

the bad news is, latavious will be making his visit with about 19 people in the stands for a game devoid of any significance. Something tells me his visit to FedEx Forum might be a bit more lively...

I was worried about that braskyii, even before the debacle of last night. Does anyone know if the students are on Spring Break for this game? There could be little to no student turnout if that is the case.

Memphis already has 11 returning scholarship players (10 if Evans leaves), four verbals, and Cousins and Wall likely to commit. Unless Calipari pulls a Calhoun and forces players to transfer, I don't see how they could get Williams.

i'm not sure he is coming this weekend. will look into it but getting mixed reports. does sound like a visit at some point will happen though.
vt- agree with your memphis take. no one is promised playing time but LW and his camp can see which school he can fit in better with. plus BE conference is appealing right now.

The Verizon Center and campus are going to be empty. Here's to hoping he visits another weekend. When is the commitment deadline? Let's get him here for Georgetown Day

Bring him to Howard instead and pretend it's Georgetown. He'll commit.
