If we're going with more recent Hoya players, I'd put him down more in the Pat Ewing style, but I really don't know how good all the comps are.

As one of the most athletic frontcourt players in the 2009 class, Latavious Williams has emerged as a top recruiting target for Georgetown. Coach John Thompson III traveled to Houston last week to spend some time recruiting Williams.
Georgetown has emerged as a serious player for Latavious Williams. "Coach Thompson came up last week and it went pretty good," Williams told Rivals.com. "He liked the way I practiced and wants me to visit after my season. He said they need an athletic 4 man to come in because [DaJuan] Summers is probably leaving."

Was that comment about Dajuan probably leaving made by JTIII quoted prior to or after Dajuan said he was coming back?

Um... someone has their signals crossed, methinks. And not a very smart thing for Mr. Williams to say to a reporter, either.

Not a big deal either way. If Summers returns--he'll be moving to the SF spot--so it wouldn't effect Latavious Williams. If Summers leaves--then it's exactly as III said.
III visit took place before the newspaper articles on Summers came out--so it's nothing that can't be discussed/cleared up quickly.

I really don't think it's a big deal, it just seems like kind of an awkward situation because I don't think coaches comments were intended for the public to hear.
However, we don't know exactly what coach said and when he said it. Furthermore, for all coach knows DaJuan could still go pro if he blows up and has some big time games in the BET and NCAA Tournament (provided we get there). You've got to believe that coaches tell recruitss stuff like this all the time. Its not that they are trying to deceive them, but they are trying to entice them with the possibility of increased playing time.
Latavious will just have to learn that not everything someone says to you is meant for public consumption, but this is really a non-issue in my opinion.

RDF you'd make a good press secretary. But you're right.
1. LW probably shouldn't have said that to the media. But he's a high school kid. He has no SID or media training like our current players. He doesn't know any better. I remember when Henry Sims committed The Hoya interviewed him and he said some things that the staff probably wouldn't have wanted to get out, but the staff can't control what a high school kid says and the kids haven't yet learned what you tell the media and what you keep to yourself, so you can't hold it against them.
2. The truth about Summers is what we all already know. He's gonna declare, not sign an agent, work out for some teams and see what happens. There is no reason not to. What he finds out will determine whether or not he is back. There is almost definitely no set coming back/not coming back decision in his mind. As much as we all might want to know what the decision is, it doesn't exist yet.
Bottom line, we could really use a player like LW and one way or another I hope he chooses us. It's good to hear that we've got a real chance to land him.

I don't think there's any question that a freaky athletic, 6'8, 220 Lb PF who likes to bang and board is exactly what the Dr. ordered for the Hoyas. I would like to see our entire team return (minus graduating Jessie) and add Latavious. Let's see what Jamie Dixon would have to say about facing the Hoyas next season?

I don't think it's smart that he said it, but it's completely understandable. He's a HS kid with no media training. What bothers me about it is whether his interest in us is tied up in there being a spot open at the 4. First off, it's not clear at all (and probably less likely than not) that Dajuan is leaving. Second, it's not clear that even if Dajuan moves to the 3, that Williams will be the one stepping in rather than Henry. He does sound like a guy who would really help us out, I'm just hoping his interest won't wane if there's no guaranteed starting spot.

Unless JT3 is changing his tune, my guess is he hasn't promised Williams a starting spot. My understanding is he only promises recruits that the best players will start/play and that they will be given the opportunity to win a starting role.

No, I'm definitely not insinuating that JT3 has been doing that. It's not his style at all. I'm just hoping that Williams isn't extrapolating from the idea of Dajuan jumping that there's going to be a big void which he'll clearly step into. I basically don't want him to shy away from us if it turns out Dajuan's coming back.

Because I'd think that Williams would have committed prior to Dajuan coming (unless he doesn't declare for some reason). Obviously, I could be wrong on that.
