Maybe this win will actually make the first page of the WPost sports section.

Hoya ProspectusI found this part of CO's writeup very interesting: "One fun fact about UConn: as a reader, you might look at the defensive efficiency and net points total for H. Thabeet and decide that I'm clueless. Well, you may be right, but I was also surprised so I went and checked how a player with 7 blocks could be considered a defensive liability. Turns out, Georgetown was able to recover 5 of those 7 blocked shots, thereby keeping the possession alive. The Hoyas ended up shooting 12/20 on dunks, layups and tip-ins, as they recognized that, while Thabeet's blocks are flashy, they don't serve as a hinderance to an effective inside scoring game."

we don't like calhoun, but this quote is great...
"We looked like we had never seen a matchup zone before," Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun said. "I want to congratulate Coach Thompson for coming in here and giving us a lesson on how to play basketball with enthusiasm, execution and energy. I don't care what the scoreboard said; we got beat by a solid 20 points."

i know you're being sarcastic mci but it is on the front page of the post. unlike the pregame artcle which was on page 5. There is currently no link from the main page of washingtonpost.com to the Hoyas recap. On the main page of the sports section, we have three top three stories The Humanitarian Bowl preview (how bout that blue field?!?), Wizards win in Houston for the first time since 2001, and Jim Zorn does not, repeat NOT, plan to overhaul his coaching staff At least there's a picture of Greg Monroe to accompany the fourth story

One of the best things about Alonzo was that he could block shots and keep the ball in play much of the time, often recovering the block on his own. Sure, every once in a while, he'd try to stamp Spalding on someone's forehead, but he was really great at blocking a shot right to himself. Thabeet's blocks are impressive, but it doesn't do UConn a whole lot of good when he blocks it into the third row and gives the ball right back to the opponent, especially when that opponent is as smart a team as Georgetown. I wonder how many times we scored after he blocked a ball out of bounds. I'm guessing it was a pretty high percentage. I'll have to re-watch the game to look for that.
