Oh, it's fine. This happens about 5-6 times per year. It lasts for a few days and everyone moves on. Very cathartic. It's the Bi-Monthly Bicker About Lichoya Haters Convention. Or, as it's known in the biz: BI-MON-BIC-LIC-HAT-CON!! (This month featuring a fight to the death between the cool robots from Battlestar Galactica and the gay robots from Star Wars). ;D I'm sure lic leads a fulfilling and complete life, regardless of Hoyatalkers complaining about his posting style. The question remains, was this a thread worth starting or not. As an on-topic thread (i.e. - discussing the performance of Big East teams), it may be a bit redundant, so I could go either way on it. As an off-topic thread (i.e. - discussing the legibility of lichoya's posts), well....as I mentioned before, also a bit redundant, but cathartic. Seeing as how it's Christmas though, we should all be nice to each other, so in the interest of board harmony, I say, send this thread to Long Island University. I'd much rather be at Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con, a science-fiction convention featuring Mark Hamill, ALF, and a wrestling match between the mighty robots from Battlestar Galactica versus the gay robots from Star Wars. Membership on the HHC Board, 4 GU degrees and a John Carroll award are good enough for me, Lic. Keep the Faulknerian posts coming. GO HOYAS GO CHRIS GO ROY EVEN THOUGH YOU GRADUATED GO OCTAVIUS EVEN THOUGH YOU TRANSFERRED GO BIG HARV DON'T STEAL MY PLAYSTATION

He's devoted as much to Gtown as anyone I know (and unfortunately, I've never had the privilege of meeting him) and for that I'll go to war with him too. Post whatever the hell you want lic and keep the enthusiasm. Once in a while, like this, I'll actually read your posts. ;D ;D ;D

I don't know why Lic bothers so many people, hes a true fan and supporter of the program and enjoys posting on HoyaTalk. His posts may not always be easy to read, but if you got a Georgetown degree I have faith you can figure it out, and if don't want to take the time or trouble no one is forcing you. Just skip it. In terms of topics on the main board, the bottom topics usually haven't been posted to in a few days anyway and if you are really that upset that they fall off the main page, click page 2, post to them and just like that they are back on the main page again, its almost like magic. I'd like to say that due to Lic's unparalleled commitment and involvement with the school (on and off the talk board), I'm more than willing to give him a pass on the occasional incomprehensible thread or post.

Very good thread.
I would have the say the Big East has been ok during the pre-conference season.
Nothing changes in terms of us being the best overall conference and very deep.
I'd say on the top end UCONN has shown well. L-Ville a bust. Pitt a who knows since they play no one. Throw in Cuse, Hoyas, ND and Marquette as very good preseasons, but nothing special.
Personally I think UCONN is probably the best and 2-8 you can throw in a hat. We can certainly stake a claim and a win over Pitt at home would do that...

I don't come here to "go to war," or even to participate in some kind of online pep rally. I prefer to have an interesting and thoughtful discussion on my favorite team, and lic does nothing to improve that discussion while managing to post more often than anyone else.

Everyone knows SFHoya posts more often than anyone else. How dare you, sir. How dare you. Why do I suddennly have the voice of Ben Afleck (playing Keith Olbermann on SNL) rattling in my head when I read "How dare you, sir. How dare you!"--Admin

I think he has only been posting for maybe three years while accumulating his astronomical post total. SF also spreads his wisdom to the other boards while lic concentrates his on the main hoops board.

AM I INCRUATBLE IS THAT A GOOD THING ?? MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL GO HOYAS Well, actually it is inscrutable, which means mysterious or hidden. At one time it was applied many times to the Chinese, as China was closed to the west for a long time, and people were wondering what was going on in that country. So it is neither good or bad, just that people don't know. And Merry Christmas to you, lic, and all the others on this board.

talking about the big east was a legit topic... bragging about post totals is ridiculous.
then again +1 for me.

Yeah, lay off lic. Go find another John Carroll award winner to pick on.
On a related note - lic has 4 GU degrees? 4? I gather two are undergrad and MD, but what are the other two? Does he also hold a Ph.D? J.D? MBA? Give it up, please! Enquiring minds want to know!

Actually, isn't The Troll Who Shall Not Be Named the most prolific poster in HoyaTalk history? Let's look at the top eleven most frequent posters in HoyaTalk history (at least since we moved to Pro Boards): 1 - SFHoya99 - 9,062 posts 2 - lichoya68 - 7,987 posts 3 - StPetersburgHoya - 6,343 posts 4 - BuffaloHoya - 6,061 posts 5 - DanMcQ - 5,379 posts 6 - The Ambassador - 4,981 posts 7 - Nevada Hoya - 4,699 posts 8 - HoyaSinceBirth - 4,686 posts 9 - RDF - 4,660 posts 10 - TBird41 - 4,311 posts 11 - hifigator - 4,238 posts What do the top ten have in common? They all joined HoyaTalk and started posting in 2004 (save one who joined in 2005). The eleventh began posting in March of 2006! That's a little over 1,000 days, or more than four posts per day for just short of three years!* Only SF has a greater rate, clocking in at roughly over five per day for nearly five years, while lic is about even with the eleventh on the list. (Whew... fortunately, I'm only in the 3.3 per day range, thanks in large part to the summer I opened the recruiting thread, and every edit was a new post.) Two questions: 1) Who is The Troll? 2) Any way to track posts from the beloved old board?

I rarely post - but have to weigh in here. I agree with Jack 100%. I have met Lic at a few Big East Tments and he is a great guy and obviously a huge supporter of Georgetown and the basketball program. So I love him because of this common bond that we share. Having said that, his posts are unbearable. I love enthusiasm and don't care about the typos and "Lic speak" (most of which I would be willing to bet are intentional and thought out by the way) - for those of you who remember the old Board, I loved jchoya4ever. But it should be done in a post or two a day where appropriate - not 5 meaningless posts in every thread. My 100+ posts have been meaningless as well, but I limit myself to spare the Board. I suppose we can all agree to disagree on this, but count me in the group that says enough with the psych experiment already.

back to the big east topic, can anyone explain to me why Vegas only has Seton Hall as 4 point favorites against James Madison?

back to the big east topic, can anyone explain to me why Vegas only has Seton Hall as 4 point favorites against James Madison? Because they're playing on the road and because they just lost to IUPUI?

I've definitely been disappointed with Louisville's performance in non-conf games. I thought that a combination of Samuels, Clark, Williams, and Sosa would be strong enough to get them past all but a couple teams, let alone Minnesota. I really am looking forward to seeing Monroe match up against Samuels and I'm starting to think that will go in our favor. I like our guards a lot more than theirs. Their length might be difficult though on the boards.
Can't say I'm surprised by Notre Dame having mixed results. They look like a team that should be in the teens, not the top 10. Pitt will again be very good in the Big East, but we'll see if they can finally win in the NCAA tourney. They definitely have a lot of grit and I think they'll be our hardest match-up, along with UConn. At the beginning of the year, I thought we might be able to take UConn if we developed a lot and that they might be overrated. But Thabeet seems to have finally become a real presence in the block and I think he'll give us fits. Still like our guards against them -- really like our guards against just about anyone, actually. Our experience in tight games (though that Memphis game showed me a lot) and depth are gonna be the biggest problems we have. Rebounding too.

As for L'ville, Clark and Sosa are not leaders. That team is going to have trouble all year, IMHO. Our problem is depth and size up front. But our first 5 plus Clark, and the way we play... will be very tough for other teams to deal with.
