With Lute olsen officially retiring his entire 2009 class has decommitted. Solomon Hill is one of the decommits and now list Georgetown as one of the schools he is interested in. Also says USC, kentucky, kansas state are involved. it will be interesting to see if we get him to come for a visit. He sounds like a strong wing type player who would fit our system but i know little about him. i also don't know if this affects 2010.

Defninitely an interesting development whenever a top recruit decommits and then lists Georgetown.
Although I must say, USC, Kentucky, Kansas St. and Georgetown. One of these things is not like the others...

haha. funny gutuna. yeah i totally agree. honestly, i suspect the staff is just inquiring for now. he is better than the other small forwards from 2009 we were looking at. So far we have just made calls......let's see how far this goes.

Here's his ESPN profile. Looks like he was a late bloomer. Also include the magic words "Point Forward". tinyurl.com/69eyjc

I'm assuming we don't really get involved unless other things fall through and he's willing to wait till spring.

Although I must say, USC, Kentucky, Kansas St. and Georgetown. One of these things is not like the others... Disagree. They all have something in common: good to great basketball programs that are really hot on the recruiting trail right now. I'm not sure why people think academics (in the sense we tend to think of them) matter all that much in these decisions. --------- From what I've read on Rivals, Hill's favorites are USC and Georgetown. He likes our style of play and he fits it well -- he's got excellent passing and handling skills, apparently. Plus, he's not a volume scorer. I don't think this is necessarily "wait until Spring." I think we were there -- but Hill was off the table. So who knows how the staff likes him versus Kendrick/Odom? Then again, this staff does its due dilligence so they could just be evaluating. If you look at our team next year, if Summers jumps, there is a lack of depth: PG - Wright/Clark SG - Clark/Freeman SF - Freeman/Thompson So a lot of our depth falls on Summers and Nikita/Omar. If the latter aren't real rotation players (and all I saying is you can't say they ARE yet), and you really need a three guard rotation, you are counting on a lot of minutes from Hollis plus no room for injuries. I think Hollis is going to be great, but no one wants to require 20-30 mpg of a freshman at the 3.

I'm not sure why people think academics (in the sense we tend to think of them) matter all that much in these decisions. I wasn't really speaking of academics as much a recruiting procedures. Those other three schools are among those that I would consider to be pushing the envelope and bending the rules in terms of recruiting. All three of those schools would get in bed with an entourage in order to land a player, and Georgetown hasn't played that game. Not saying that's the case with this kid, but that's why the list surprised me.

Would we take him before Roscoe has made a decision? I agree that if Summers jumps we are going to have a depth problem but adding this kid will change the problem from having to rely on one freshman to having to rely on two freshmen*. With Smith as our top 2010 priority and apparently Kendricks about to commit I'd imagine that K State or the others can pitch a better offer (and I don't mean illegal offers)
*Not counting if Omar/Nikita turn out to be contributors

I agree that we should be considering if Summers goes after this year, but I think it is not likely. Accordingly, I don't think we should load up on 3s for next year for that reason. However, if Hill is a good fit, we should take him.

I agree depth at the three is an issue. I still see Austin as a full-time two eventually.

Sorry for assuming gutuna. I know what you are saying, but I don't think those schools necessarily bend the rules all the time and for everyone in a material way.
In general, I think it is great the staff is evaluating another wing and the guy is interested in us.

Why would he if USC or UK say come on? I wouldn't.

Why would he if USC or UK say come on? I wouldn't. From his quotes on Rivals, it sounds like he is trying to set up an official visit to GU before the early signing period in November. They also say he has an offer from GU. And he says it is between us and USC.

i agree ID. i think staff will tell him to wait and i doubt the kid will want to. sounds like staff definitely thinks there is a possibility Dajuan could leave. we will see

Even if Dajuan stays his senior year... they can both play. As of now, it looks like Dajuan is starting at the 4.
Looking forward to watching Solomon play for Fairfax.

There is no way that we are in the picture otherwise.
