I think that all Americans should be forced to vote according to this system with the threat of corporal punishment if you break from your computer-generated candidate of choice.

(For me, my issue was that many of the statements were to easily attributable to specific individuals, so you could steer your way through it if you wanted to. I also took this as a sign that I am paying far too much attention to these candidates and need to get outside a little more. ;D ) I tried to avoid falling into that trap. The "what type of experience do you value" question was especially obvious.

It left me hoping that there'd be a question regarding "What faith background should a president have?" :-D Thank you Boz for that well-earned chastisement. I now have a New Years resolution to look forward to.

No better place to display one's love of French history and Francophilia than in Mason City, Iowa? A town of 28K in the heart of Iowa. Way to go, Romney campaign.

Obama 11, others 0.
Just kidding. ;D
Obama (7), Huntsman (3), Romney (1)
Nice find.

Also fun to play around with "Importance to You" the sliders. I just messed around with a couple of them to emphasize things I care about more, and Huntsman jumped into the lead, despite there being one fewer point of agreement.

Highest I got was a 4/11. Therein, to me, lies the problem. Nobody in this crowd, except maybe Huntsman, is even close to the middle of the road.

Why this won't happen: - Hillary doesn't want the job & contrary to Reich's opinion, is polishing a 2016 resume much more as SecState than she would as Veep. Also, I don't think Obama wants her. I could see him dropping Biden, but not to replace him with HRC. Why this can't happen: - Lord save us from a Biden SecState. The human gaffe machine as diplomat-in-chief is not a good thing. Much as I disagree with HRC on issues, I think she represents the position well. Biden is a complete doofus. Republican dream ticket: Like McCain, Romney will need a veep who is more conservative than he. I don't think Christie quite fits the bill (though I would love to see him debate Biden if Joe remains on the ticket). I believe Marco Rubio has backed off his earlier stance that he doesn't want the job. I have to believe he would be the front runner, particularly if Romney is the nominee. Maybe not if it's Gingrich or Santorum (and I don't think it will be).

Rubio gives him that, along with popularity in Florida (important swing state) and among the Tea Party. He would also provide the ticket geographical diversity along with racial diversity. I can't really think of another choice for Romney that checks that many boxes (or close to that many boxes)--maybe Bob McDonnell from Virginia? And having said all that, the Republican Dream Ticket is just a dream, because it definitely does not include any of the current Presidential candidates as the President.

Out of curiosity, who would be the dream candidate for Republicans this year? The conservative wing would have more success (or would be having more success) if it was unified IMO. The Perrys, Bachmanns, Gingriches, and Santorums have just been beating up on each other for months.

Didn't the whole get a young, attractive conservative VP thing backfire last time? ;D

A pick like TPaw could be even better for Romney, because it would pick up a sound but complementary conservative figure while also being an ostentatious rejection of the "meta-game" of finding a token ethnic or a female to "balance" the ticket. Romney would earn support from a less-coherent, less-traceable segment of the electorate if he speechifies about choosing the most qualified candidate and a veep that would be able to govern on day one.

“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything… It all comes from, I would argue, this right to privacy that doesn't exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution... You say, well, it's my individual freedom. Yes, but it destroys the basic unit of our society because it condones behavior that's antithetical to strong healthy families... In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.”
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2012 Iowa Caucus winner, by 35 votes.
Your move, New Hampshire. Do the right thing.
ON EDIT: Google prematurely stated that 100% of precincts were in. Santorum still up with 2 precincts yet to report. Not sure if the actual winner even matters much at this point.

While Santorum is the big winner tonight, Romney's ultimate victory is pretty much secured. Santorum doesn't have the organization and he's pulling single digits in NH, the money bomb that's going to drop tomorrow can't build an organization overnight.
Biggest loser tonight: Bachmann or UConn?
