Who's writing this, the SNL staff?
"The fourth woman to accuse Herman Cain of sexual harassment became the first to go public with her claims today accusing him of being 'aggressive' and 'sexually inappropriate' towards her.
"Mother-of-one Sharon Bialek, from Chicago, told a press conference in New York today that when she went to the presidential candidate for help and advice about getting a new job in July 1997, he 'put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals. He also grabbed my head and brought it towards his crotch'.
"When she asked him what he was going he replied: 'You want a job don't you?' "
-----
"Introducing the single mother, her lawyer Gloria Allred said she was 'disgusted' at Herman Cain's behaviour and said that he 'provided Sharon with a stimulus package of his own' when she went to him for advice."

Eriskson's re-look at Huntsman is sure to carry a lot of weight considering the seven people who have ever heard of him.

I understand that in a "he said, she said" situation, discrediting the accuser is one of the few, if not only, resorts you have. If this is not true, how can Cain actually prove that it's not true? If it is true, this woman only has her account, and support from friends.
However, I find it extremely distasteful the way the Cain campaign is going after her personal history. Just like it was when the Clinton machine went after Paula Jones, or Dems went after Joe the Plumber.
There will almost certainly never be a smoking gun of guilt or exoneration here, so we are left to wallow in the muck. Huzzah!!
Personally, I just can't imagine Cain doing something so dumb (or awful). But then I think of Mark Sanford, and Anthony Weiner, and Mark Foley, and John Edwards, and Bill Clinton, and so on, and so on, and so on....

Look, I suspect Cain is not innocent of all the allegations but what is someone to do when another makes an allegation? Seems to me it's up to the accuser to prove her point rather than on Cain to prove his innocence.
Second point. What is to be gained by bringing these allegations up after all these years? In the end, the only thing it is going to accomplish is to destroy his family.

Nice move by Barry O to sneak his 15 cent Christmas Tree tax under the radar during all of the Cain and Penn State hysteria. Yes, the federal government is imposing a 15 cent per tree tax to promote Christmas Trees and their image.
In the interest of fairness, I believe a 15 cent Menorah tax, Festivus pole tax and Islamic prayer rug tax is also in order.

How'd it become "his" tax when it was first proposed by the real christmas tree industry in 2008?

Because he's the President. Thank you Boz. That whole President signs these things into law business can be so very tricky...

I mean, maybe. But even if you look at Ohio, the anti-Obamacare referendum won 65% of the vote and won every district, including some heavily Democratic ones. Also, its going to be interesting to see who gets blamed when the inevitable outcome of keeping the public employee union status quo occurs (layoffs of newer employees and fewer gov't services)--are Republicans going to get blamed for not raising taxes or are public employee unions going to get blamed?

I'm just happy to be living in a completely red state again. One more thing about Herman Cain and then I hope I won't ever post about this again. One thing I hate is when unsubstantiated accusations come up, the accusations sometimes don't even matter. But the person gets pilloried anyway because he or she "didn't handle the accusations well." That really bothers me most of the time. In the Cain case, however, I think it is really revealing. I still like Herman Cain, quite a bit actually, but what has become abundantly clear through the last couple of weeks is that he would not handle the challenges of being president well. I just read this morning that his campaign manager, Mr. Smoky, went on Hannity last night and said that they had confirmed that one of his accusers was the mother of a Politico reporter. And it's 100% NOT TRUE. You just can't DO that sort of thing. I mean, what the hell? I can sympathize with his frustration if he is actually being falsely accused, but you just can't go out willy nilly and throw these things around. Like how if was first Rick Perry's fault, then the "Democratic machine." I respect his flat out denials yesterday. And I really hope that he is not guilty of what he is being accused of. But man, if you can't even run a campaign that can deal with an issue like this -- even if it is patently false -- I just can't see how you are going to tackle the responsibilities of sitting in the Oval Office.

Has anyone else seen the web ad that they are running? It's a picture of Cain with the words "like they did Clarence Thomas" and "9-9-9" at the bottom.
That's not an argument of innocence. That's an argument of "my tax plan is so important you should look past this stuff".

I thought one of The Economist live bloggers made a good point that Cain is enjoyable in much the same way a sitcom is: you know the gags and you know they're coming. Gingrich and Romney actually turned to each other and shared a hysterical laugh when he turned the bridge question after the last break into 9-9-9. Good stuff.
Seems like it might be Huntsman's turn to be the not Romney candidate, CNBC certainly gave him ample time tonight. Has plenty to say, would be interesting to see what some momentum would do to his ability to say it.

I have three points. One, Rick Perry is a terrible debater. Two, his performance tonight has to fatally damage his campaign, no? Three...uh...third...uh...
