This week will see all kinds of surprises, I think. The first will come tomorrow, when Senator Edward Kennedy addresses the Convention in person, perhaps for the last time.

You could have the DNC and RNC in Denver on the same day/weekend, it won't matter.
As long as Flying Dog, Breckenridge and Great Divide Brewing companies continue to reside in the Mile High city, there's no reason to indulge in anything else.
That's all I have to contribute to this thread.
Oh, that and something controversial is going to happen in the next few days.

Why would that be a surprise? Well, it's definitely up in air whether he'll be able to make an appearance at the moment, given his health. So maybe it's not a surprise, per se, but it's not certain.

Good thing he's not driving himself there, his speech would be from the bottom of a bay.

I sincerely doubt the Clintons themselves are going to pull anything, they're good Democrats, and Hillary herself today reiterated her support for Obama, to the point that she has released her delegates. There are some PUMAs, to be sure, but they're not very numerous, though they are pretty loud on the internet.

I can dream can't I, Bando?
;D
EDIT: I think you're wrong on the PUMAs though. Sure, maybe those who have signed on to the actual PUMA Web site aren't very numerous, but most polling would suggest that Clinton supporters who don't support Obama are statistically significant, at least right now.

That doesn't mean they're PUMAs. I think there was not inconsequential number of Republican women who switched parties to vote for Hillary Clinton in the primaries. Now that she lost, they're reverting back to form. That is, these were Republicans all along, there isn't some giant rift in the Democratic party.

Bando:
There is no way in hell the Clintons can let Obama win the White House. It boxes Madame Hillary out until 2016 when she will be 70.
If John McCain has two sure votes come November other than himself and his wife, they belong to Bill and Hillary.

Jimmy Carter, what a guy. If only he could have been as good a President as he is a person.
Nancy Pelosi needs to take speaking lessons from Jessie Jackson Jr.

Everyone likes to anticipate drama. I expect literally NOTHING to come of this Clinton situation. If anything, I expect the Clintons, especially Bill, to give exceptional speeches that really carry their respective nights.

Craig Robinson (Obama's brother in law) is an interesting guy from a Hoya perspective. There's some interesting parallels between him and JTIII. - Both played at Princeton under Pete Carril (Robinson graduated in '83, JTIII was a freshman in '84). - Both left basketball for a while to pursue a business career - Both returned to coaching as an assistant to a Princeton Offense disciple (Robinson worked under Carmody at Northwestern) - Both got their first head coaching jobs in the Ivy League (Robinson at Brown) - Both were quite successful in the Ivy League (Robinson took Brown to 2nd in the league in his second year) - Both got hired by a big-conference program (Robinson just got the Oregon State job) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Robinson_(basketball_coach)

If anything, I expect the Clintons, especially Bill, to give exceptional speeches that really carry their respective nights. I really think that this was just the big story today because: a) there's way too many media personnel in Denver right now b) nothing important really happened today c) the fringe people were doing stuff. I know Elvado thinks the Clintons are evil incarnate, but their Dems. They'll be fine.

If anything, I expect the Clintons, especially Bill, to give exceptional speeches that really carry their respective nights. Oh, I expect Bill to give an outstanding speech, no question about that. And it will be a speech that is full of red meat for the party. The question is will he give the speech they want him to (i.e. - primarily foreign policy instead of economics)? And will he give a speech that sufficiently promotes Obama or will it be more about himself? Then of course, there is the question of who in the world can follow Bill Clinton. Very few people are up to that challenge and I'm not sure Joe Biden is one of them. Of course, everyone will see Biden's speech, only the cable news watchers will see Clinton's, so that might make it easier for Biden. It'll be more a question of how it's covered the next day leading up to the Sermon on the Mount.
