Gotham is a dump!
Man, I'd rather live in Bethesda or South Arlington than live in Gotham! ;D

I wonder how Wayne Enterprises in incorporated and if it complies with all federal codes and regulations. i'm sure it is incorporated in Delaware like any good multinational! Too bad our summers left. I would have ordered one of them to call up Delaware and try to see if there is a certificate of good standing for Wayne Enterprises. Metropolis is FAR better than Gotham. Even its dangerous neighborhoods-- Hobs Bay, Suicide Slum --are far more interesting.

I guess the pay was too low for them to stick around any longer. ;D

On second viewing, I think they foreshadowed Catwoman. When Bruce gets Lucius to make his new suit, Bruce asks about whether it will protect him from dogs. After a little back and forth, he says it should do fine against cats.

Eh, I've seen subordinated RMBS that make more sense, though it certainly made more sense than Saw 5, err, I mean Terminator.

That is, after using the best villain in the second movie, they're going to make up for it by using multiple lesser villains in the third? Isn't this why the previous Batman franchise was so horrible?

I think they should go with King Tut. He's in the original DC Comics, right?

Isn't this why the previous Batman franchise was so horrible? That's the pessimistic way to look at it. The way I see it, Nolan and Ledger took the Joker (possibly the best villain) to such an awesome level that I think Depp's Riddler and Hoffman's Penguin (arguably lesser villans) could still be outstanding.

I think they can be awesome, too, I just don't know why they have to be in the same movie.

Yep, Bando. It's also the main reason why Spiderman 3 sucked so bad.

Yep, Bando. It's also the main reason why Spiderman 3 sucked so bad. Seriously. Venom should have had his own movie.

Ah, I see. I thought you were primarly saying that they're just not as good villains. Actually, I do agree with that point about putting too many into one. Venom should DEFINITELY have had his own movie. And I think that a Johnny Depp Riddler would certainly be deserving of his own. I do like how the Batman movies so far have worked a second villain in, but only at the margins. Raz wasn't really a villain as far as Batman knew until 3/4 of the way through the movie. And Scarecrow had a few minutes in Dark Knight. So if they do something like a foreshadowing of Penguin at the beginning, primarily Riddler, then Penguin relevant at the end to set up the 4th, I think that could work...or something along those lines. Multiple villains at the same time can get messy.

You can do the side things as long as it truly is the same plotline and there's a reason for the person to be there. Joker and Two Face is a perfect example, though it made TDK a bit long (one of only two minor complaints for me -- length and the Joker calling Maggie G. "beautiful").
Scarecrow and Al Ghul were working together and he was the twist, so to speak, so fine.
But trying to fit the Goblin storyline, Venom and a completely unnecessary Sandman in? Having two-face and Riddler -- completely unrelated villians together -- just to simply get more star power. Having Freeze and Poison Ivy? Huh?
Catwoman is the one exception. As she plays a love interest, she can be there without being the villian and have a role, but eh, I don't know why you'd want to pair the Riddler and Penguin. They don't seem to play all that well together.
I did read an article somewhere where the Nolans said they weren't that interested in the other movie villians -- they were looking for stuff from the comics (was that in this thread)? But if that's true, why the talk of Riddler (good) and Penguin (eh.)?

The dorkiness meter on this thread is now in the red zone. It's a thread about a Batman movie. Was the meter ever anywhere else?
