Lawyer, the NCAA dictates these rules in order to prevent what would basically be somewhat organized games for teams during the off-season. It is what it is. All sanctioned summer leagues must comply. Pickup games are primarily what are used for gelling purposes. Some gelling can occur in the summer leagues too because most teams will have at least two guys who will play together during the real season. However summer leagues are mostly 1) to get the frosh more quickly acclimated to what lies ahead and 2) to get all the players the opportunity to sharpen and improve their skills against quality opponents in a real game setting in front of a crowd of onlookers. These games won't always determine what a player does in the coming season but nonetheless they do provide certain benefits.

Also, i have seen the guys at Yates lifting and working on drills. Although, i do agree that the two returning player rule is crap.

The M&A game originally scheduled for Friday was cancelled as well, and may be replayed today.

Well, yeah, except as recently as 2-3 weeks ago the schedule said that the game would be at 2.15, not 4.15. So about 50 of us showed up at the gym. I'm annoyed, though I guess I have now learned a lesson about Kenner that the rest of you learned long ago. Got to see Jeff very casually drain a 30-footer and someone from the women's team hit virtually every 3-pointer she took while shooting around. And she took a lot of them. But, stupid me, I got there about 1.30, thinking I'd catch the second half of the opening game and then see The Tombs. I wasn't going to sit there with nothing to do for almost 3 hours waiting to see them play.

Now imagine having this happen to you a couple of times after travelling to Gtown via public transportation. With an hour's time worth of journey (much of it is actually waiting for a bus) each way. I was ticked off quite a bit during those times.

Tombs needed OT to beat Beyond Belief. Overall it was a dreadful game, with only a few bright spots. Nikita had to hit a 3 on the Tombs' last possession to send it into OT.
The Tombs really struggled on the glass. Greg wasn't there (don't know why), and without him Henry got abused by Jeff Allen (of Va Tech). Henry's been a pleasant surprise so far in Kenner League, but today's performance showed that we still need to be realistic with our expectations for him. Chris tried to keep the Tombs in it by doing it all himself, with some success. Jason Clark had some nice moments, but also made some silly mistakes. I still like what I see from him though. Nikita had a solid game with some nice moves, but he had some trouble finishing.
I'm sure FLHoya will follow with a more detailed and accurate analysis.

Quick scoring counts:
Wright - 29 Sims - 8 Clark - 8 Nikita - 8
Without Monroe (who has consistently been their best player) Tombs was pretty mediocre and had nobody to match up with Allen. Wright was the only guy who played well, but he was forced to do a lot himself since nobody else could score. I was very happy to see him put up some points in the half court because he's struggled outside of transition for much of the summer.
Crawford played too - he rebounded well but got swatted almost every time he tried to shoot.

If summer session 2 is over then Greg has to pack it in. You are only qualified to play in these events if 1)your residence (which I think can include your college if you actually live on campus during the summer) is within a certain distance from the location the games are played, and 2) if you are taking summer courses at a university which is within a certain distance from the location the games are played . Greg, who is not a resident of the metropolitan or Baltimore area, fits the #2 category and like all of out of towners his eligibility for the games ends when his classes are over. The Tombs have lost players in the final games for reasons like this before. It typically happens around the first week of August so it would make sense if Greg isn't allowed to suit up the rest of the games. Edited to add: the only time I can think of a KL that contradicted this was during Jon Wallace's frosh season. Which means a)the games ended earlier that summer or the second summer session went on long enough, b)Jon had some special exception (perhaps he was actually living at Gtown the whole summer and was going to stay there the few weeks before the real school season began, c)my memory is faulty and Jon did not play with Jeff, Roy and Tyler in those last few games when the Tombs won the championship or d) I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

Yeah, a few people even thought Sims would be beating out Monroe for the starting position but as we pointed out Monroe is physically more ready to rumble in the BE. Sims is probably a year away from being a legit option to start. I feel he's gonna be great but he its going to take awhile.

hoyatalk2.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=365Thanks.
So does this mean Bowman and Reed have returned home for the remaining portions of the summer? Since Owens wasn't playing with M&A this weekend I'm thinking the school session is over and the out of towners are gone. But Josh is there. However since he isn't an incoming freshmen recruit and still has a year of hgh school perhaps the rules don't restrict him. It would have been nice to have one game where Bowman, Green, Reed, Hibbert, Guibunda, Crawford, Thornton and Walace all playing together at one time. A voice from the past. Mine actually. ;D The link takes you to a thread from August of 2004 and proves, by who wasn't in the lineup, that the out-of-town dudes such as Bowman, Ray Reed and Wallace indeed could not finish the KL season because the summer school sessions ended that same week.

HAHAHAHAHAHA...C.U.T.S. They don't make Kenner League team names like they used to. Oh, the days of Team 90210. ;D Seeing Beyond Belief today reminded me of one of the early weekends this KL when I saw them play Hoop Magic and I was gonna name them (HM) Team One Tree Hill as an homage. Man that was a crap game.

Assuming you meant the most recent "schedule," obviously not. I used the 2d version that came out after some team dropped out of the league in the first week or two. I actually thought I could rely on that. I'm an idiot, and frustrated, too, like MCI was at one point.

Anybody know what the schedule for the playoffs is/ if it's been released yet? When are the Georgetown teams playing?

Last year I think they announced the pairings and times at the end of the last regular season game, but I didn't stay until the end yesterday.

Anybody know what the schedule for the playoffs is/ if it's been released yet? When are the Georgetown teams playing? Look at the front page--it lists when/times and teams should be listed in this thread--as to who finished where--believe that Clydes and Tombs are top seeds and I'm sure someone will let us know where Myers and Alterman finished up.
