I seem to recall Freemen also citing his Midnight Madness experience as a reason for coming. And I think Chris W committed right after MM as well

question for recruiting gurus. being that I live in los angeles, now that hollis has transferred out of the city limits... are there any other local players I should track that have georgetown on their radar or vice versa?
between hollis, bowman and cook...LA has been quite the hot bed for hoya recruits.

How could anyone name their child Nadir? Well, in fact, the Arabic meaning for the name is quite positive: rare or precious.

Agreed. Too bad for them. Guess they didn't want to win a national championshop.

so where does this leave us with future 2009 and 2010 recruits? with whom do we still have a good shot at getting?

I suppose there are very few programs that can lock up their top targets every year. We will really need Monroe, Sims, Clark, Thompson to live up to expectations by 2009-2010. If a couple of them are busts, we'll have work to do to stay at the top. Hate to say it, but losing to Davidson couldn't be helping recruiting - I can imagine other coaches saying "One Final Four in the last 20+ years and that was because of Jeff Green" whether it's true or not.

Damn. That's disappointing. But let's be realistic -- we're not going to scoop Dook every year.

Who are we kidding??...it absolutely impacts recruiting. The same way that going to the Sweet 16 and going to the Final Four helps recruiting.... (we did get the the number 1 player in the country after that) ... getting punked in the 2nd round by a 10 seed after giving up a 17 point defintely impacts how some kids view the program. And yes, by contrast, that win for Davidson will definitely help their recruiting.

Recruiting isn't impacted by one game and anyone who thinks so is an idiot. It can help with certain recruits--but overall your program's consistency is more important. Hairston is going to be a great player--and I really like Tyler Thornton's game--but at least they committed and got it over with--which means Hoyas have plenty of time to look elsewhere--and '10 class is deep with talent-so it works out fine.
It's not time to go into panic mode around here. Some of you fans are ridiculous. This program is bigger then 2 guys--as good as Hairston and Thornton are--and I wish them well--but programs are built on guys who WANT TO BE IN THEM--not guys who would rather play in the ACC--which is a clown league--where 2 teams dominate and the idea of a "tough game" is when the league allows someone outside of those teams to actually beat them.
There are PLENTY of kids who DO want to be Hoyas--and will be.

The Davidson loss was a disappointent and it sucked. Still don't think it is making or will make a difference in terms of recruiting. Recruits know this program is on the rise and it is going to be a competitive program for as long as JTIII is around, at least. If they choose to go somewhere else, it can be for any number of reasons -- location, system, coach, etc. I don't think the Hoyas' losing to a totally under-seeded Davidson because of a choke-job in the second half will even enter the picture. The single-point lucky win over Belmont and second-round loss to WVU seems to have really hurt Duke in recruiting Hairston and Thornton, huh?

So much for the rumors about Coach K being distracted by his Olympic duties ... I bet he has that gold medal hanging in his office's waiting room so that the recruits can stare at it while he makes them wait. Let's move on. Plenty of talent left...

No--my parents taught me how to READ--which is when you look at something that is said and have the level of intelligence to understand it--try it--it's fundamental. If you think 1 game influences recruiting in a program--you are an idiot. It can influence individuals--but if they are easily influenced--and don't want to come--so be it. I don't want players who would come to Georgetown because of 1 victory either. You want kids who buy into the program and what it's about. Understand? If not, no need to continue to discuss anything further.
